Actually, not even close.

6 wins is an improvement.. It might take a couple more FA periods and drafts before we see significant changes..

The only time T-Rich has even gotten more than 3.2 YPC over us is the first game last year when he had 4.1, and the only reason for that is he somehow managed to run for 27 yards on one carry.

Encouraged by some of the talent we have aquired, but still think we're staring at another 5-11 season due to coaching/development inadequacies.  I'm ok with that though, because I'm finally starting to see this as a 7-8 year rebuild like some of you have been saying all along.

I think realistic hopes are(Absolute Best): 10-6

3-1 vs. NFC South

3-1 vs. AFC East

3-3 vs. AFC South

1-1 vs. Random 2

(Absolute Worst): 4-12

1-3 vs. NFC South

1-3 vs. AFC East

2-4 vs. AFC South

0-2 vs. Random

(Likely): 7-9

2-2 vs. NFC South

2-2 vs. AFC East

2-4 vs. AFC South

1-1 vs. Random

Oh god, you're right. Who am i mixing him up with? We got gashed a couple times by a Colts RB.

EDIT: Woah... Basic training did something to me. The Colts haven't been good on the ground against us at all. Maybe I switched to an alternate dimension. Whatever, I'm okay with that.

You may be thinking of Donald Brown, who usually seemed to have a few big runs against us.

That's pretty much what I'm thinking too. 6-10 is kind'a 'anti-climatic' in a way, but it is an improved season record for this club. The absolute best I could suppose for us is 10-6; it's not outside the realm of 'possibility'... albeit highly unlikely. The worst case would probably be another 4-12 season. Sorry, but no amount of 'Gus juice' is going to fix another season of 4-12.

Quote:True, true... but that means the Jags are part of the reason why they (the clots) have become perennial leaders in our division. If it isn't because they (the clots) are very good, then the only other reason has to be that we (the Jags) are that bad. Between us and the tacks, we've stunk this division up so much over the past seven years or so that it's embarrassing.

Most teams won't say it, but the truth is that most teams in the NFL have come to view a game against the Jags to be almost an automatic win for them. At least our own division records bear out the truth of this where the clots are concerned.

Hopefully we can get better on the field. If as the AFC South is up for grabs

Quote:our toughest competition in our division is the Colts, I honestly don't see how we match up? Any Thoughts?

The days of worrying about the Colts ended when Peyton Manning left the team.

Yes, Andrew Luck is a fantastic franchise QB but he is not Peyton Manning.

He cannot carry the Colts and make up for the lack of talent as much as Peyton was able to and therefore the Colts will be hard to beat like every divisional team in any conference,

but they are on their way down instead of up...

The Jaguars can move up to be the AFC South Champions this season if they draft well, play together,

and beleive in what Gus Bradley is cheering for in and out of the locker room...

This season will truly tell if Gus has what it takes to be a Head Coach in the NFL he'll either make it to the playoffs or probably be fired....to remain a DC the rest of his life...

No more waiting, I want to see significant change this season...

3 years of drafting & free agency when the owner is willing to spend big dollars and has the cap space...

No more waiting we should see a winning season this year..

9-7 or bust?

I would gladly take anywhere near .500 after the last 4-5 seasons.

7-9 -- 9-7

That's the realm of my expectations.

I expect this team to be able to win at least 7.

No more "all rookies" excuses... no more "new schemes" (although we are changing OCs)

The D has pieces, parts, players... we're not built like a 2-4 win team, 4 wins should not be acceptable.

Though, if we hit 7 wins... I'll be pleased with the direction, not so much the final results...

that would constitute "winning" for me.

Well yes... we'd all like to see a 9-7 season this year from the Jags. But I'll be 'okay' if we can at least make 6-10.

Quote:Wow.  You really weren't paying attention with all of the youth we were trotting out there last year.

Experience alone makes the offense better next year.  An off season in the conditioning program and working on their skills and getting stronger makes them better. That helps Bortles, the receivers, and the linemen significantly.

Look at the addition of Julius Thomas, and then look at the fact that the team is still in the hunt for a feature back and a veteran WR.

I don't know how you can look at this offense and ask a silly question like "what has made it better?" unless you simply don't have a clue, especially when you look at how young that team was last year on the offensive side of the ball.

I know it's your MO to hate everything the team does.  Keep up the good work.
Okay, I admit that perhaps more often than not I'm clueless about 'da 'foosball'; however, I did sleep in a Holiday Inn Express last night so here goes...

*experience is good, except the other team is a year more experienced also, so it kind'a negates 'experience' as an advantage.

*an off season of strength training and conditioning, and working on their skills is also good... but the clots are doing this also; again, no advantage.

*Julius Thomas was certainly excellent in Denver... with Jughead as his QB. Will he be 'excellent' here? We don't know that yet.

*we don't know what the 'hunt' for RB and a vet WR will yield. Do you have a crystal ball or something that enables you to see the future?

I don't know if asking "what has made it better?" is silly or if the suggestion that it's silly is just presumption. I have read somewhere that there is no such thing as a 'stupid question'; perhaps that just means there are a lot of inquisitive idiots out there, who knows?

The point is this; I'm not aware that I have a 'modis operandi' of being negative, but I can't say that I'm aware of anything that has clearly given us an edge... outside of an improvement at offensive RT (we hope). I can point to the fact that with a new OC the offense has to learn a new play book which in some ways will put us at a disadvantage given that at least a few players last season were already familiar with JF's playbook.

I y'ams who I y'ams and thats all I y'ams...

I see a lot of people who are underrating the Colts saying that people are overrating the Colts

One game is one game. The Patriots had Darrelle Revis, Brandon Browner and a bunch of pass rushers. They had an offense that even the Seahawks had a hard time stopping -- who do you think could have done any better covering Gronk? The Colts were clearly overmatched in that game but let's not suddenly act like their defense didn't make a leap this year.

Vontae Davis is one of the best press corners in the NFL and across from him, Greg Toler had a very solid season. Both of them intercepted Blake Bortles, I don't know if you remember. With Ricky Jean-Francois and Bjoern Werner dialing up pressure they hardly missed Robert Mathis. D'Qwell Jackson is one of the leagues best coverage linebackers. Let's not be biased just cause we're Jags fans -- the Colts had the league's 11th ranked defense overall PLUS Luck playing lights out nearly the entire regular season.

Also yeah Gore and Johnson have two years left each IF that, and both will probably miss time due to injury. But you're out of your mind if you think, even at their age, that Trent Richardson/Reggie Wayne is a better duo. Richardson is terrible, Gore can read gaps way better and pass protect and catch passes much better for Luck, and it's not like Richardson is much faster.

Johnson's been a step ahead of Wayne throughout their whole career, and he didn't have to become a slot/underneath receiver because he's still pretty fast. Johnson has done more with crap QBs even recently than Wayne has done with Andrew Luck.

So yeah, id be afraid of the Colts if I were you. Are they unbeatable? No, their offensive line is trash and their defense is weak over the middle of the field. But it's pretty ignorant to say they aren't getting even better. They have a dominant QB who has done better every season, and a better defense than they've had since 2006 -- give our rivals some credit where it's due, even if you hate 'em.

Bortles is gonna have to make a leap and start having some Luck-esque 300 yard, 3 TD games if we want any shot at beating that team consistently
