O'Halloran shot that one down too.  (he's been wrong of course)

So you're telling me there's a chance.

FS Sergio Brown signing today.

Quote:03/08/15 - S Sergio Brown, unrestricted FA update, is a good backup player in the secondary who can start if needed. Brown did that quite well last season when LaRon Landry was suspended for four games by the league. He wound up with 33 total tackles and six passes broken up. How good was Brown? Landry had a heck of a time regaining his starting position late in the season.

There's still some good FA FS out there.  Maybe they aren't McCoury-good, but they would still be a good upgrade.

Quote:McCray is the fan favorite??  Huh

Fans believe he's got corner "locked up" and reminds them of Rashean Mathis... have also heard others compare him to stars at the position.

So yeah, I'd say he's the fan favorite, if fans think he's better than Colvin.

To me, it would be as if we left Mathis at FS instead of moving him to corner.  If he's the best corner, put him at corner.

Except he's not?

Agree.  I think it starts out with Colvin in a rotation, but by the end of the season or starting the '16 season, I think he'll be our best DB.

Agree with this.  Especially since beyond first down, you probably have at least three corners on the field anyway.

He is.  Miss last season, did you?

You mean the season where Colvin's only starts was when Gratz was hurt?

I think you may be lumping the opinion (you disagree with) of some on this board into some sort of opinion of the entire fanbase.

Colvin was injured to start the year, remember?

I agree with him that McCray is the fan favorite.  Everybody here is like in love with him acting like he's Revis in his prime.

Obviously - Colvin, McCray and House will compete for the outside  -- I'm merely pointing out the logic fail in the statement I quoted.

If Colvin ends up at nickel when it all shakes out  -- it's not a downgrade.  It would mean someone else played better on the outside.

Although - Gus did speak frankly last year about wanting a certain skill set from his nickel that not all corners possess.  Of course - I think he was just downplaying putting Gratz there.

Why not Maxwell?

Like I said, he wasn't paying attention.

Same production for half the price. Maxwell may have also excelled due to playing with Thomas and Sherman. House had no one near that level in the secondary.

So Colvin who missed most of the year and played sparingly coming back with his only start coming when Gratz was hurt is somehow better than the guy who has started most of the season and held Hopkins when he was on a tear, held Beckham when he was on a tear, held Dez Bryant before they switched him to the other side and dominated, limited Antonio Brown (and even made the Steelers give him garbage catches late in the game to keep some kind of catch streak going),  and over all graded out well on many adv. stat/metric scoring?

Ok, Gotcha.

You're probably too busy "moderating" to pay attention to how players are actually playing.
