On his Gunslinger vs Henne mentality the one time he did hang truly calm in the pocket he got blasted. That kinda stuff sticks with a young QB.


Stage 1: playbook and mechanics.

Stage 2: Let him make his mistakes and play his way.

Stage 3: Reign him in and teach him control.

Stage 4: Reinforce mechanics in offseason

Stage 5: Take the reigns off and hand him the keys.


This to me was the plan all along. They just had to throw him in earlier than expected. We saw stages 1 and 2 for most of the season hence the early ints. Now we are seeing stage 3.


So long as he doesnt continue the quick read mentality next year then im fine. You cant play Gunslinger at all times though. Even Brady and Brees sometimes have to play small ball to win games. The key is teaching him both mentalities and when to use each one.

 

Stage 1: We are there...the mechanics are a work in progress.

Stage 2: Happened in his early starts then...

Stage 3: Coaches put handcuffs on him and stomped on his pride...

Stage 4: Yes

Stage 5: Needs to happen 1st game next season or progress will be furth delayed.
