Quote:80 million dollars better?

Marks is on a 4 year/22 million dollar deal.

Suh is likely to become the highest paid defensive player in the NFL, more than Watt's 6 year/100 million dollar deal.
I wish. I want Suh so badly. Money talks.

Quote:if the GM wanted to, we should have enough money to spend on him AND elsewhere.  especially if we cut Marcedes, restructure Poz, and I don't see Clemons coming back

There are several holes that will need to be addressed in the draft and free agency this coming off season.  There isn't a need at DT that would warrant spending that level of resources on one guy when there are legitimate needs elsewhere.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Quote:Yep. Cutting bait with guys like Shorts, Marcedes, and I'd even get rid of Poz will ensure that we could spend at a pretty decent clip.
Really?  How much exactly would we save by cutting these guys since you seem to know the exact figure?

Keep in mind, we save 0 for Cecil.  He's a free agent.

FBT, can you point me to other reports from different sources? You stated that it was multiple and you linked me to just one.

Thanks, my friend.

I think Suh would be best in that Red Bryant role.  Bryant is getting a little old.  It would be nice to have a younger/better Suh play that role for the next few years.

Shorts & Poz should both be gone for sure.

Shorts is going to FA anyway.  Guys like Poz, Marcedes, Clemons would free up additional room to our already enormous cap space

Not for $100 million.  No thanks.

Odds are, he's re-signing with Detroit.  They're already in negotiations.

Ditching Clemons isn't going to save much cap space.  His deal was front loaded so the guaranteed money was front loaded. He's only making $4.5 million a year beyond this season, and only the roster bonus is guaranteed, so the team would save the $1.5 million roster bonus if they cut him before it's due.

but if they don't keep him, isn't that 4.5 mil that could be spent on something else? since basically there is no penalty due to guaranteed money?

I'm obviously guessing at market value but...

Shorts would probably be slightly <1M

Lewis would free up 6.65M (but we owe 1.4M in dead money for 2015)

Poz would free up 7.45M in 2015 & in 2016 (14.9M total) (but we owe 2M in dead money for 2015)

It makes sense to be to cut those guys loose and let young guys run in those positions.  Seems to make sense to save ~15M in 2015 & $7.45M in 2016 and find better areas to spend the money!

Eh, not sure about that. I think Suh could be a run stopping End, but that would just take him away from what he does best, and that's the 3 tech penetrating DT.

Good signing.  No need to let this guy walk when he's played well for us.

Shorts is a free agent.  They're not saving a dime on him.

More like the role that Michael Bennet has played for the Seahawks or Richard Seymour did for the Patriots.

I like solid dudes like Roy Miller.

Regarding Suh, am I the only one that sees a little bit of Albert Hayensworth in him ?  I don't trust that dude's effort with $100m in his bank account.

You could line Williams up anywhere and ask him to play multiple roles. He has J.J. Watt abilities. Not saying he'll be as productive (chances are he won't), but don't think he's just a run stuffer as a DE because he tips the scales at 300 pounds.
