Colts are beatable

#61
(This post was last modified: 11-18-2014, 11:28 AM by Section105Fan.)

Our only chance at victory

1. Control Time of Possession. Keep Luck on the bench.

2. No Turnovers

3. Create Turnovers

4. Special Teams Surprise ( kickoff return, punt return, blocked punt )

5. Knock Down Passes at Line of Scrimmage

I think the Jags can limit the clots run game to ~100 yds.

If the D-line has a big day they might even be able to keep Luck under 300. Maybe.

What they can't seem to limit is their own trigger finger.

We've had 2 weeks to prepare.  Should come out solid against them.  I wouldn't be surprised if we eek out a win or lose a close one.

I hope for a win but at this time I think the colts are playing at a whole other level than the Jags are. I think we would have to significantly elevate our game to even be competitive with the colts this season. At best, I would like to see us come out and limit ridiculous long gains, turn poor tackling into the rare exception instead of the all too common blunder, and try, try, try to limit interceptions which were the result of poor judgement from Blake. I don't like it at any time when we get intercepted, but I can't fault an interception due to a really great defensive play. I just want to see us make the colts earn it and not give the game to 'em due to mistakes and plain old bad football skills....

My question is why aren't we trying different combos at O-Line until we find the best combo?

Yes, I realize continuity is important, but with the willingness of the coaching staff to shuffle the Center position around, why not other spots? Wasn't Grigson our GM an O-Lineman? I would think he'd be all over this huge issue.

Whether our O-Line coach blows, or the talent sucks, or it's no the right combination of people, FIX IT.

Remember Baltimore shuffled their O-line around, and ended up winning a Superbowl?? Remember New England traded their stud O-Lineman, and started doing terrible at the beginning of the year....? They shuffled their line around and boom, now they have a great O-Line.

GET IT TOGETHER ALREADY.
great post, wish I would have said it

The above quote from the Clots message board sort of sums up their offense...........99% Andrew Luck, 1% Running Game. If Luck gets injured, the clots become the Raiders.

Quote:Yep, while the colts are beatable, the Jags are even more beatable.

In fact, the Jags are so beatable, they even beat themselves when they play, the other team just gets the credit.
Yep... pretty much what he said...

I don't think the Jaguars are going to win this weekend, But Bortles has a good game and keeps it interesting. I do think they will beat the 14 point spread which could go up to 15 before game time.

Jaguars 27

Colts 34

Interesting stat-filled article in the Orlando Sentinel by Hays Carlyon. I tried to link to it, but couldn't find it on the OS website. So I'll summarize:

Matt Hasselbeck has mopped up all three games vs. Gus Bradley's Jags
, two of which were at Everbank. To put that in context, Hasselbeck has only played in two other clots games.

The Jags have been outscored by the clots 70-6 in the first half of the three games. For the full game, the Jags have been outscored 111-30. Again for context, the clots outscored their other 14 opponents combined last year by only one(!) point.

Put that in the context of the Raiders beating KC last night, which I consider a comperable team to Indy. Against Indy, the Jags haven't even avoided a blowout in any of the three games.

The takeaway from that is that the colts are a good team, but having a patsy like the Jaguars in the division to just give them two wins every season with no resistance has inflated the perception of the colts as a team.

Yes, the Colts are a very  beatable team.  Just not by the Jaguars.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

We need to win the turnover battle and bb5 needs a big game. So pretty much the recipe to win for the next several years

Any team is beatable. That's why they lay odds on games.

But. All those being optimistic, and I applaud you for it, if you had to lay down a $100 bet on the game straight up, who ya taking. Jags?

Then your optimism has turned to delusional.

Hope I can come here to eat crow.

But wouldn't bet on it.

On a plus note...our offense, besides Robinson, is the healthiest it's been in a long time and we've found a run game.

In a nutshell, to win? One word. Consistent on both sides of the ball. Positive consistency.run. Keep Luck on the bench.
