Blackmon can apply for reinstatement

#61

Quote:No, it doesn't.  It simply means that his player-agent contract has not yet expired, or been otherwise terminated (Just like his contract with the Jaguars).  It says absolutely nothing about his intentions.
You're right.  The contract status doesn't indicate his intentions, but I believe there were media reports recently that indicated his intention was to get reinstated, and that's why he was doing the mandated rehab.  We'll know soon enough.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Looks like this guy met Justin Blackmon yesterday. When he asked him when he was going to play again, he said next year.

We all have to have some kind of vice. If his becomes spending a few $$$ in the casino instead of beer and bongs then I'd be happy for him.

Wow, that seems pretty cool. Justin also looks like he's still in good shape.

Not sure why a few comments are being made about Justin being in a casino. Just because you are a recovering addict doesn't mean you have to live in a convent. Let the man enjoy himself and live. As long as he's not abusing drugs or alcohol, theres no issue. He's going to be in situations where temptations are going to be there. You can't shelter him from these. When he gets back to the pro's there are going to be environments of temptation as well. Blackmon is going to have to be able to resist his demons. Its just that simple. Hiding himself away from all things fun isn't any answer to the problem.

This is great. He seems to be in great shape, didn't know he had huge arms like that. I loved the fact he feels he is playing next year, I mean come on this is great news. Im super happy. No alcohol is good, but the casinos idk. Im just happy he said he is coming back next year!

Shouldn't his vice be football?

Casinos have so many triggers if you're an addict its not even funny.

Having another confirmed report of him having the desire to come back is great.

However the question becomes, if and when he comes back does he perform?

My thoughts. But as we will soon find out from the enlightened message boarders we don't know anything / we are just old curmudgeons / he's allowed to have fun / we are haterz etc.

So because he was seen spending a day in a casino, then football isn't important to him?

Holy Toledo... wow...

He was having a day of fun in the casino. I know this might surprise you, but recovering addicts can still live normal lives and go to normal places to have fun. As long as he's not drinking or using drugs, theres no issue. As a matter of fact, I'd rather see him test himself in this environment now than shelter himself from it. When he's back playing football, theres going to be much bigger tests every day. He'll need to have the self control to be able to pass these tests.

To be fair we really don't know what his triggers are and we don't know what he was doing there.  For all we know he just wanted to go to a crab buffet with his family.

You could argue that there are an overabundance of triggers for an addict just by getting out of bed. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this, honestly. I'm glad that he wants to be back but I also can't help but wonder if the casino is really the best place to be. Still, I also don't expect him to sequester himself in a monastery until his reinstatement either. The tonsure is not a sexy haircut for anyone...lol.

Just be careful and take care of yourself, JB. We all want to see you doing work on the field in a Jaguars uniform next season!

So in other words with the recent Blackmon spotting, I think we can all agree... SUPER BOWL 2015? AMIRITE?

Personally, I don't care if he drinks or smokes the herb.  The NFL is ridiculous with all these rules.   With that being said, maybe he can channel his "addiction"  big money stakes in Fan Duel.  If he did and picked himself every week in 2015, then it would be a Win-Win.

Actually.... Yes.

If he really did care about football, he would be working out and staying in shape. Going to a casino, where there is alcohol flowing, smoke and poor decisions abound really doesn't sound like a smart move.

Josh Gordon, in his time off, worked out on his own and spent time selling used cars or something. Doesn't that sound like a smarter move than going to a casino?
