Surprise cuts?

I agree.  Interestingly - the statisticians gave Red Bryant credit for that stop on 4th and 1.  They had a moment of dyslexia.  Red is 79 while Miller is 97.  Clearly, it was Miller.

Still wish we would've kept Knighton for that role so we could have rotated him and Miller.

I think if we had been able to keep Knighton (who reportedly wanted out of Jacksonville), the team never would have signed Miller.

Agreed. Besides, I've seen both players and can without hesitation say that.... Knighton > Miller.  That said, Sen'Derrick is better than both of them

Pot Roast actually has pretty good lateral movement for a player that size. Still, I'm not convinced he's better than Miller. For one thing, last year Miller was playing with one arm. Let's see what he does this year.
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

Agreed on Miller. He's healthy this year. Playing with a bum shoulder last year didn't help him at all.
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Yeah but Marks and Knighton essentially play different positions.

We should start hearing about cuts any time now.  I would imagine Twitter should start lighting up soon.  They'll be done by tomorrow afternoon.

I'm excited to see what a healthy Miller does as well, however even if he's 100% healthy I don't think he's capable (athletically) of playing at the level Potroast played at last year in Denver. The guy was borderline dominant at times against the run and pass, he's incredibly athletic for a guy his size, I’m happy for him, seems to have a good head on his shoulders. If he does it again this year he’ll be a very rich young man.

Not bad. You came real close missing on only the following...

  • WR Kerry Taylor is still on the roster, but they still have four more players to waive as the roster is currently at 57 players.

  • They kept 9 OLs instead of 8, the difference being they kept OTs Josh Wells and Sam Young while waiving Drew Nowak. Of note, Josh Wells is eligible for the Practice Squad.

  • They kept Jamell Fleming on the roster as a 6th CB

  • They also kept Sherrod Martin on the roster as a 5th S

  • At K they waived Redfern, although he is eligible for the Practice Squad

If it turns out that they last four players waived are Kerry Taylor, Josh Wells (moved to PS), Jamell Fleming and Sherrod Martin you will have virtually  nailed the roster with the only difference being that they kept Sam Young instead of Redfern.

What I liked about Redfern is he can kick AND punt. I guess that would be difficult to do for a full regular season.

If your team already has a skilled kicker and punter on the roster...still, with ten-man practice squads, the case could be made for keeping a jack-of-all-trades kicking specialist on it.

I predict that even if McClendon makes the 53 man roster, he will not make it to opening day.   He will be replaced by someone who was cut from another team.

I was a little surprised they let Drew Nowak go.  Isn't that the guy who switched from DT to OL a couple preseasons ago because of all the injuries we had on the Oline?

From what I've seen, he's possibly the best run blocker we have on the interior. He'll stick, but I wouldn't be surprised if he finds himself in the same spot as last year: signed on Tuesday, released on Saturday, etc.
