Quote:No. Im not saying go destroy things. But just going by the history with no justice and the history of this country and blacks, People are expecting the worse. There anger goes deeper then just this one shooting. Do I agree and will I go riot? No. I just get it.
I don't see any scenario where one has to "get it" to have an understanding on why the riots and stealing is justified. Not at all.

This what I see as Selective Outrage.

Quote:Ok, but you continue to say that the police have become more aggressive recently.  I don't think much has changed in their behavior.  I do think that with an increasing population and the type of people they have to deal with, you have to cut them some slack.

In a lot of cases they deal with the worst society has to offer, so if they are a little forecful without crossing a certain line, I have no problem with it.  They dont know if you or I carry a gun or a knife, and they want to go home to see their family at night.  So if they want to make me get on the ground or throw me down because I'm an idiot that doesn't want to listen...go for it.

Please don't mistake what I'm trying to say as against of the average officer. I sympathize with them, they've been put in a bad spot. However you have to admit there is an over aggressive tone all together regarding the police force, it has become militarized. The police in Missouri have even called the area as a "war zone" I'll find the link to the article when I get home.

The redirect WAR on Drugs has been used forever, combine that with equipping our police like a military and the mindset changes. It changes from protect and serve to survive the war zone, in a war zone shoot first incidents are going to happen.

That's my issue this APPEARS to be a case of a hot headed cop that was in the shot first survive the war zone mentality. The family came out and asked for peaceful protest, and at first there seemed to be peaceful protest. Then agitators like Al Sharpton move in and suddenly they're rioting and looting. Several articles have reported most of the looters are not from the area, so they're coming just to agitate a bad situation. Now the discussion isn't the militarized police treating American soil like a "war zone" but rather controlling an unruly mob and the NEED for a militarized police force to control the public.

The militarization of the local police force is all part of the plan....

Remember 20 years ago, the S.W.A.T. team had to be called to situations. Now all the cops are armed with the "Special Weapons".

Of course, as I type that the animals in Missouri appear to justify it...

A well armed local populace could control them. Unfortunately, when the people have had their hands tied either via local laws or government confiscation (Katrina) the world burns.

What anger? People are shooting other people by the dozens every day. Where is the outrage and rioting and looting for that. Check the local news and you'll see daily shootings and killings in this very city. Yet, none of this. No rioting, looting, shooting at police and helicopters. Nothing.

So, what makes this ANY different than the other senseless killings that happen every day that seemingly don't justify this anger that "you get". I would love to hear what the difference is.

Yeah, because what happened in cases like Safar are just like this case. I have not seen a more horrible, irresponsible comparison. So, congratulations to you for that. Al and Jesse would be very proud. I see a new career move in your future.

I get the anger, that's easy.

I don't get how some can use that as an excuse to riot and steal. I see people shooting each other for no apparent reason whatsoever everyday. Where is the outrage there and anger there? There are far more shootings in the streets against innocent people, or bystanders then there are a cop shooting someone unjustly.

Like I said....Selective Outrage. Then the mob rule rears its head. Then the self serving looting begins. Then the civilized person shakes his head and has no sympathy, in fact some begin to arm themselves.

Maybe trying to figure it out is better summed up by the statement

Some men, you just can't reach.

I call it something else personally. I guess the hint would be that it's the stuff that comes out of the back end of a male cow.

I get the anger, but I think the riots are an excuse for oppurtunists to steal from in many cases, hard working businesses.  You are breaking down your community.

Instead of doing it the right way, they are making the situation worse.

That too. A mountain of it.

Now there are comparisons to Trayvon and Jordan Davis. Drawing parallels to this and not all the other senseless killings/murders that abound in this country, gives me the impression that's it's agenda driven.

Again...a six year old girl shot here. Hardly a blip on the radar screen.

Common sense sees this. Agendas, excuses and tunnel vision doesn't.

Other parallels being drawn are that Sharpton who in fact was an FBI informant, is still one. Inciting , in a stand back and stir the pot looking a like a middleman peacemaker. Then as things get out of hand, as they are, since it's going into day four...impose martial law, arm police with military weaponry and use more force. Recently, reporters from Al Jazeera were there and got tear gassed as they set up cameras.

WWJD Reverend?

Hey. This makes as much sense as the reason for looting and rioting. But clearly, what does society do when a group of what can be termed terrorists by a business owner start to burn, smash and loot your business?

Have a sit down? Guess I'm just an old school curmudgeon. I'd sit outside with an AK and send the message to potential looters. Try me.

That's exactly what's going on, the rioters are being shuttled in to create a crisis. Just like illegals are being shuttled in to create a crisis,

Well, if there's a promise of all the free stuff you can carry, I'm sure they have no trouble finding people to shuttle in.

All they ask is that you act outraged until the mob mentality takes over and the looting begins.  When you see these people trashing small businesses and stealing all their merchandise, the looks on their faces is like that of a child on Christmas day as they're running down the street with their stolen cases of beer, televisions, or whatever they can lug on the run.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
