My music-work calendar was a bit slow early last year outside of the group I tour with about 120 days a year or so.  So - I thought I'd put a few more irons in the fire.  It's turned into a "be careful what you ask for" situation now as I've got lots of preparation to do for a number of different projects. 

 

A couple of them may prove lucrative and career-advancing, so if you guys don't hear from me for a while it's because I've got the nose to the 'ol grindstone trying to get that axe extra sharp.

My first goal for 2017 is the same as my goal was for 2016.   Break 80 on the golf course.  Didn't happen last year.   I am stuck in the low 80s.   I think maybe I need to play more often.   In 2016,  played about once a week, and hit the driving range about twice a week.  I think I need to reverse that.  Play at least twice a week.  Practice less, play more. 

 

My second goal is to learn to speak German, which I have already begun. 

 

Beyond that, keep trying to figure out what life is all about.

I got Rosetta Stone for German last Christmas and started on it but then got derailed by surgery. It's hard to concentrate when on pain meds and muscle relaxers! I plan to start it again. When I lived there I learned enough to get around, order in restaurants, and very basic conversation, but that's been over a decade ago now so I've lost 99.9% of it. The downside to learning over there is once they knew you spoke English they wanted to practice their English with you while you wanted to practice your German with them. Some of the conversations were funny. 

 

Let me know when you're starting it and maybe we can compare notes and speak in code here so people wonder what we're saying. Lol.  :ph34r:

Yes, I believe you are right. Many words are similar. And I probably will pick it up pretty easily. I was able to read the German you wrote without having to look it up, but I still did just in case. :-)

 

I lived in Stuttgart. A beautiful city. Even though it was over a decade ago now, I remember it as if I was there just yesterday. I miss it. I loved getting on a train and ending up somewhere because we closed our eyes and put a finger on a map and said, "Let's go!"
