Now that Christmas is over, what big changes are you expecting personally in 2017?

Quote:Trying for a baby... (the trying has started)... he's hoping the Darlo family will expand! Good luck Darlo!

My first goal for 2017 is the same as my goal was for 2016. Break 80 on the golf course. Didn't happen last year. I am stuck in the low 80s. I think maybe I need to play more often. In 2016, played about once a week, and hit the driving range about twice a week. I think I need to reverse that. Play at least twice a week. Practice less, play more.
My second goal is to learn to speak German, which I have already begun. Beyond that, keep trying to figure out what life is all about. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:I'm apparently just going to be a LOT busier. I envy you. I can't think of anything better than to play and create music. Thank you for doing it. And thanks to everyone who plays and creates music. You make everyone's lives so much better. It's a gift from God.
2017 pay down some debt and improve the homestead, I'm behind on lots of projects with the new job working 75 hours a week.

Quote:I got Rosetta Stone for German last Christmas and started on it but then got derailed by surgery. It's hard to concentrate when on pain meds and muscle relaxers! I plan to start it again. When I lived there I learned enough to get around, order in restaurants, and very basic conversation, but that's been over a decade ago now so I've lost 99.9% of it. The downside to learning over there is once they knew you spoke English they wanted to practice their English with you while you wanted to practice your German with them. Some of the conversations were funny. ![]() Let me know when you're starting it and maybe we can compare notes and speak in code here so people wonder what we're saying. Lol. As for life.... I don't know how old you are but I'm coming up on 45 in a few months and it's like every time I think I have stuff figured out I find out I don't know jack. Sometimes it's really cool and sometimes it sucks worse than the Jags record during the Gus Era.
Quote:Na Zdorovie, comrade! LOL Будем здоровы/ На здоровье! There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those who don't.

Some of the conversations were funny. We can't speak in code, anyone can copy and paste into Google Translate and read what we're saying. <span>Ich habe bereits begonnen, Deutsch zu lernen.</span> <span>My wife is from Taiwan, so I tried learning Mandarin Chinese. I got a little way, but it was difficult. Our travels led me to learn a little Italian and a little French. In Italy, they all want to speak English with you. I finally encountered a little old lady in Rome who knew no English and managed to have a small, very basic conversation with her. She was very nice. </span> <span>In France, they will happily speak English with you if you butcher a little French first. They seem to find that very amusing. But if you lead off by yakking at them in English, they turn up their nose at you. I think they're all sick of the Brits coming over and acting like everyone should know English. Yes, I blame the Brits. </span> German is about the easiest language I've ever tried. It's closely related to English. I think you probably just need to refresh it a little and you'd pick it right back up. Where did you live in Germany? We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

I want to get my house done. I'm getting really tired of not being able to find stuff.

Quote:We can't speak in code, anyone can copy and paste into Google Translate and read what we're saying.Yes, I believe you are right. Many words are similar. And I probably will pick it up pretty easily. I was able to read the German you wrote without having to look it up, but I still did just in case. :-) I lived in Stuttgart. A beautiful city. Even though it was over a decade ago now, I remember it as if I was there just yesterday. I miss it. I loved getting on a train and ending up somewhere because we closed our eyes and put a finger on a map and said, "Let's go!" |
