If he had drafted him he would've been fired by now.

Quote:Laughable if you think Thurmond is on Revis level. Thurmond is nothing special
When did I say that?  Its laughable if you think Revis is worth his contract.

Quote:I understand that....but lets call a spade a spade and not pretend and act like the signing is some great thing. Its a cog. Its not anything close to a difference maker.

I thought Caldwell said that in this free agency period we were supposed to focus more on the bigger "impact" type of free agent. That has not materialized as of yet.
and how do you know in the right fit and right system they won't produce at a high level and become a difference maker? I don't think anyone expected Marks to play as well as he did. Stop being so negative and try and look a the positives. It's annoying.

I try to keep things in perspective. Making the team better is a good thing. Bringing in competition constantly is a good thing. I'm not going bananas over him, but he showed an ability to affect the passer and that is an impact player. He impacted plays. He did so 3rd most in the league last year. Maybe Gus and Co can help him get there a little quicker and get sacks. He is a guy with low risk and potential upside. It would be a solid signing.

Love the thread.  Somewhere over the years I lost my extreme passion but I do still like these discussions.

Quote:Byrd doesn't have anything close to Earl Thomas's range and wants $9M a year. Beadles fits the zone-blocking scheme. You're a negative Nancy. Please tell us whom you would have lured here (against the bidding of 31 other teams) and what you would pay each of them so we can sit back and laugh at your childish take on reality.

Byrd is one of the best ball hawks from the position in the league. He recorded 9 INT's one season,,,,,he's still got his best years ahead of him.

You people downplay Byrd, who's a legit playmaker and trump up signings/ potential signings like this Detroit DE that has never topped 3 QB sacks in a season....upside down

Great point. This is how you find those guys. If you don't sign them you won't find them.

If he's cut, he won't get the 15 million. We have the cap space, and he's easily a top 5 corner in the game, so what's the problem?

I agree with this. If Revis is cut, thats an impact type signing the Jags should make or try to.

Uh, he'll be 29....how many NFL DE's "break out" at 29 when they've been nothing more than a cog their entire careers??????

He has a lot of risk. I'd much rather get Byrd. Revis still going to want big money.
