Quote:Well, I guess you'd be the expert on that. At least I don't constantly try to tear down everyone who holds a different opinion than I do. That's all I was questioning, not "running my mouth." I'd also like to note that I was responded to with exactly what I was talking about. But whatever, I'm obviously the problem.
Admitting you have a problem is the first step to recovery, good start!

Quote:The revisionist history on here can be amazing at times. Although in their defense, maybe there were only 5-10 people strongly(and often) voicing their support for Geno last year and most of them probably arent partaking in this thread.

One of the annoying things about message boards when talking about the draft is everyone's opinion gets clouded based on NFL performance. Its easy to say Geno wasnt a top prospect now that we've seen what he did last season. But at this point in the draft process last year, the Geno love was to the point where you didnt even want to read message board anymore. Its similar to how every draft miss becomes a huge reach. You'll see people post about how we reached for Blaine Gabbert. We didnt reach for Blaine Gabbert... in fact it was the complete opposite. Everyone seemed surprised he dropped to the point where we could take him. But revisionist history is rampant.

Difference between what the media says where someone is going to go and what the GM's and scouts think. We did reach for Blaine, we know that now. We reached by a mile and gave a 2nd round pick. Of course we have hindsight now. Point though is you nor I have any idea how 31 teams viewed Gabbert, only how the media viewed him.

Quote:Phill Simms is a clown, he said Geno Smith > Teddy B [BAD WORD REMOVED]

Because he thinks Geno is better, he's a clown. Had he said Teddy was the next Peyton Manning, he would be looked upon as a genius.

Because he thinks Geno is better, you've got no problems with him.  Had he said Teddy was the next Peyton Manning, you would have seen him as an idiot.

It works both ways.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

I don't care at all because I don't care what Phil Simms has to say.

Thats assuming scouts are always right.  Scouts arent always right.  Thats why players like Ryan Leaf get drafted in the top 5.  Thats why guys like Aaron Curry, who turned out to be a lousy NFL player, can be widely assumed the ultimate lock safe top 5 pick of all time.

A bust isnt always a reach.  And a reach doesnt always turn out to be a bust.

I don't care who you are.. Right now, its all speculations on how these players who've never played a single snap in the NFL are going to perform. Take their advice with caution and don't be disappointed if some of these talking heads are dead wrong..

I agree with Simms.

What lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.

That isn't assuming scouts are always right. I guess it depends who you are going by for your information as to rankings. The media is getting both honest and dishonest information. They use this to compile their rankings from what the scouts are saying. And again, teams are sending so many smoke screens we really have no idea which information is true or false. Therefore it is literally impossible for us to know if someone was a reach or not from the information we are getting since the info can't necessarily be trusted. The only fool proof way is to judge after the fact. And after the fact Blaine was one of the biggest reaches in franchise history since we not only spent a 10th round pick on him, we also gave up a 2nd to get him.
