Gus Bradley impressing many around the league with this weeks Senior Bowl practices

Whether it is or not will play out in time. At least 3 years is needed to make a fair judgment. I'm just illustrating the kind of UDFA that I'd like to see brought in here. Anything less than that level is nothing to be praised. Most FO get the level of the Pasztor level FA's.

I haven't found an example of multiple UDFA's of the (Harrison/ Peters/ Cruz/ Romo/ Foster) level from one FO yet, but looking.
If you find a quality starter out of UDFA, it should absolutely be praised.

Teams dont even get as good of players as Foster/ Cruz/ Romo in the 1st round, what makes you think it would be common to find players like that in UDFA?

Quote:I also wonder how many people who are jumping on praise of Bradley now, in this thread or otherwise, weren't formerly staunch "players, not plays" guys....

Would suggest either hypocrisy, a flip flop, or at best, finally seeing the light that good coaching is just as important as good players.

Praising a coach isn't the same thing as placing the burden of success on the coach's ability. Has anyone actually flip-flopped? Where have people gone from "players, no plays" to "plays, not players"?

Exactly.

Lol.  Everything points to him being a good coach.  Players want to play for him and he and the staff received a lot of praise for making the players better.

Ha-ha.  Yeah - he's one heck of a motivator.  The South team did play like they "wanted it more" at times in that game  -  and I wouldn't discount  the Gus factor in that.

Can't wait to see him work with a bit more talent in Jax.

Wow.  If we get him some players, we will be on our way.

Be back in a few hours. After watching that speech by Gus I'm gonna run around the Earth a few times before supper.

I wanted to see how Gus did if he had comparable players to coach as the team he was playing against.  I was not disappointed!  The south team had more intensity and appeared to be the better coached team. If Caldwell is successful in the draft the next two years we will  rip respect right out of the mouths of the media. I have not been this excited since Jacksonville was granted a football team.

I have the feeling that we're going to get a lot of UDFAs that played in the Senior Bowl. We will be getting younger and faster. Exactly what we did last year. And we will do it again the next year. Playoffs by 2015.

that's because it's rare for that to happen, hitting a homerun in UDFA is more luck than anything else
