I love message boards.....OP tried to put something positive up and there's folks here ready to tear it down.

Good grief.....if some of you guys can't find anything positive about keeping a staff and team together after climbing out of the hole they were in at the beginning of the season...maybe you ought to go be a tacks fan. Hey looks like you'll even have Mularkey to pull for. :woot:

I agree! Nothing sounds good to some of them.

Quote:I'd be surprised if that report had much substance to it. Fisch & Babich certainly weren't being sought after as a promotion, and you can't make lateral moves....(and to be honest who would want them even in a lateral move???)

The only assistants from the position coaches that I could see other teams seeking out for a promotion would be Sullivan, but at his age, I think he's content doing what he's doing. or maybe the DL coach, Wash. Maybe an outside chance of the ST's coach Mallory since he did a good job.....

Who else did a good enough job to warrant a potential promotion??? No one.
So now we are calling Gus a liar, or we do no research before making comments. On his weekly Thursday night radio show, Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley revealed that rival teams wanted to interview several of the coaches for positions on their staffs. The coaches, not Bradley, declined even to talk with the teams.

So what do we make of the news that Mark Duffner left for Miami, in light of this thread?

Is it still a matter of haters hating?

Did Duffner leave to spite the OP?

To be fair. I believe the 'other side' is saying that the assistant coaches sucked so badly nobody wanted them.

I really don't care one way or the other, myself.

He's the best! He's the best! You come at him with a mediocre team and that's what you get! Don't talk about the assistant coaches!

Despite the fact that a couple left, I think it says a lot about the atmosphere and environment that's being built here in Jacksonville. It's a whole new culture.  It's something that people want to be a part of. A lot of players, and a lot of coaches.

It's life. Stuff happens. People move on. There doesn't have to be a reason that bodes ill for the Jaguars.

Judging by Caldwell's comments and what is readily available on the web - Duffner left for

A. likely more money (called a "great opportunity for Duff and his family"

B. to work in a more traditional 4-3 with a coach and coordinator he has extensive history with

Does anyone really want to make something more than that out of it?  Also -   He was a holdover from the previous regime - is it a shock that he's not the perfect fit for a somewhat unconventional defense?

Quote:If you are going to go from college OC to NFL OC you better have a resume a bit better than "productive offense". You should have an offense that turns heads and stands out among the best in collegiate football.

But if you are going to from college OC to NFL OC you just have to be slightly above average (ie. Ferentz 13 seasons in the Big Ten and never earning a Rose Bowl bid). At least stay consistent, TMD.
