From a curiosity standpoint, I'd love to see Gabbert start.  Despite what everyone says about him being the BIGGEST BUST EVER!!! it would be kinda cool to see what he could do now.  The guy's really young.
 
After all, you guys were all so right about the 2013 Jags being the worst team in NFL history, instead of possibly the 2nd best team in the division.
 
And you guys were all so right about any QB on the street being better than David Garrard.
 
I have seen Chad Henne, and have not seen marked improvement in the games he's played this year.  Our team is playing better, but he really isn't.  He's the same guy he was at the beginning of the season.
 
So yeah, I wouldn't change the channel if the Jags put him in.

In a parallel universe or something it would be interesting to see how Gabbert would do, but Bradley wants to win games.

Nah, but it does allow me to laugh a little louder at all the clowns in the media - and in our forum - that got off on calling the Jags the worst team of all time.  We're not even the worst in the conference, or, as it would turn out, our own division.  We win next week, and chances are we will finish ahead of the tacks and texans.

 

Kinda fun watching all those guys shut the hell up.

He could light it up for 700/5/0 and we'll still be drafting a QB.  The choices are just too damn sexy this year.

 

If he did, it would be about the best thing for this team, as it would increase his trade value.  Also, I'd just like to see someone other than Chad.  10 TDs, 12 picks, 2700 yds in 13 games?  Sounds like Gabbert's rookie season.

 

At least neither one of these guys could play any worse than Eli Manning.

Seeing as the last two games are against AFCS teams and are both winnable, I doubt the make a change unless Henne flops big time.

 

I still wouldn't mind seeing Scott or Stanzi play some garbage time, but I think both games will be close til the end, so it wont happen.

I agree with all you said. I too, would love to see the others play a little, especially Stanzi.

Why not wait a year. This year you dont have any good selections at QB next year you would have Winston Mariota and Bridgewater.

After watching the great performances of Blaine Gabbert, Luke McCown, Trent Edwards, and Chad Henne for the last 3 years it makes me miss the days of Garrard.

But yes, the Texans offer a great scenario for a QB to go to.

 

-Texas weather and Texas women.

-Houston is a much better destination than a lot of other cities (Detroit, Oakland, etc.).

-Stud running back to take pressure of the passing game (Arian Foster).

-A very good WR core. (Aside from the aging star, Andre Johnson, they have spent a 2012 3rd, a 2012 4th, and a 2013 1st on Posey, Martin, and Hopkins).

The point is Henne is no more an acceptable starting QB than Gabbert was. You have to stop thinking as everything being a comparison between Henne and Gabbert, Gabbert isn't even relevant to the conversation. Henne not being Gabbert doesn't make him an acceptable starting QB.

 

If the Jaguars head into next season with Henne still on the roster it'll be a really bad sign and I'd expect as much whining as there was about Gabbert heading into this season.

 

You can't be a successful NFL franchise with this level of play from the QB position.

 

Absolutely true. But I still think Gus has too much pride in his decision to stick with the Gabbert-Henne back and forth to give either of the QB's with actual potential a shot. Young coaches don't like to find out they are wrong.

He's trying to either play up his value to see if he can get a trade for him or he's planning to let him play out his rookie contract as the backup.
