The Game: Ohio State at Michigan

Quote:And all it took for Auburn to be where they are is two miracle wins and loss to LSU. There was poor defensive effort out there, sure, but on the road against rival opponents anything can happen. This season has been a shining example of that. Unbeaten is unbeaten, and as of this moment FSU deserves #1 tOSU deserves #2 Auburn deserves #3. There's still championship games to play, so there's still hope for the SEC homers

Exactly. If the last FG went wide left, the tie would have stayed and there would have been an overtime. The only reason the game was so close was Alabama's kicker is garbage.

If Texas A & M beats Missouri,   Auburn loses the SEC Title Game,   and Michigan State beats Ohio State,   it would seem like MSU would warrant serious consideration to play in the National Championship Game.   Especially since they would only have one loss.   Personally,  as someone who isn't a fan of any particular college football team,  I just want to see the best National Championship Game possible.

If all of the above happened, I'm not sure who would play FSU in the NCG(but hey, they still have to beat Duke lol). MSU would probably be a safe bet, but based on ranking, I wouldn't be surprised to see South Carolina play FSU in that scenario, cuz you know, SEC.

I have no idea as to which game may be the best NC game possible. Sometimes these teams don't seem like themselves after being off for a month.

I was hoping for FSU v Alabama. I wanted to see FSU against Goliath. Now that David has won (if you can consider #4, at home, being David) I just want to see as much chaos as possible.

This is setting up awfully well for FSU - unless the Leon County District Attorney gets involved. That might be the ultimate chaos.

MSU does not belong in the conversation. You are talking about the #11 team, which has never been in the top 5 all year.

Based on what you mentioned,   Alabama probably should have the edge over South Carolina,  based on ' Bama only having 1 loss,  compared to 2 losses by USC.    Especially since they are in the same conference.

Yes, but who else in that scenario?

Oklahoma State, maybe, or perhaps even Stanford... Would Bama sneak back in?

I was also hoping for a FSU vs. Alabama game, with both teams unbeaten.  The build up for the game would have been huge and my guess is the game would have lived up to the hype.

Right now,  it sure looks like there's going to be chaos unless Auburn wins next week and Ohio State loses.

Yes but SC would be the SEC champions, who nudged out Auburn, Bama's only loss..

Its fun to speculate within the mess that is BCS rankings. Lol bring on the playoff, already!!!

If going purely off of W/L, Oklahoma State would have to be in the conversation

I did not think the Iron Bowl was David vs. Goliath. Being #4, at home, and the archrival, Auburn had a much better chance of winning than Michigan.

Stanford is playing against Notre Dame right now. Oklahoma State is idle and plays rival Oklahoma next week.

The Spartans would only have one loss and under this scenario would have beaten the only remaining unbeaten team in their Conference Championship game.  At the very least,  MSU should be in the mix under the scenario I mentioned above.

The Conference Championship outcome is a very legitimate point.    Yet,  at least at this point in time,  it's hard to envision a team with 2 losses this season having the opportunity to play for the National Title.

How does a one-loss team never crack the top 10? I can't remember the Spartans ever being higher than #11.

Lol I think ESPN would have a meltdown if the above scenario unfolded. Who are they gonna back? Lol Bama, OK. St. (Assuming unbeaten), perhaps SC, maybe MSU, or even Baylor (assuming unbeaten).

Those are my assumptions

I thought Baylor has been overrated all year when I saw the score updates for their game against TCU. What happened in Fort Worth today? Count me out of the Baylor for NCG discussions.

Not saying they deserve to, but don't be surprised if Auburn jumps you.

MSU is demonstrating that they should have been in the top 10 most of this season.  If they have a strong winning performance against Ohio State next week,   they would have made a strong case to leap frog the teams with two losses.

Which would mean there is anti-Big Ten bias if Ohio State was not ranked higher than one-loss Auburn.
