Okay...the way you wrote this...I sat here for a minute trying to figure out what a medium sized aquarium dog looked like!!!

Quote:If he needs wet food, the vet is supposed to prescribe cans instead of kibbles. My vet said if you put water on dry food it becomes mushy and the pet won't eat it.

Mushy is the goal.

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

You know only a real person would give people advice on pet care given to her by a vet and I certainly am real.

Getting more water is the goal. Mushy just makes it unappealing. That comes from a vet, not me.

I don't think the dog cares, unappealing? Do you plan on eating it?

Yes, the dog does care. Do you really think dogs eat unappealing food? I am sure anybody who ever had a dog knows they don't eat as much if they don't like their food.

I'm sure he's doing what works for his dog. If he knows the dog has esophagus issues, he's probably been to the vet. For all you know, his vet told him to do it they way he's doing it now.

I hope he is doing the right thing for his dog. It is just not something I would consider doing for my cat.

Just because that's what your vet told you to do, doesn't mean it's appropriate for his situation. Don't be so judgmental.

I asked my best friend if I should adopt a cat now or later. She recommended waiting until after my company goes home.

That's probably a smart thing to do.

Yeah, it is just tempting to think my sister sister should meet the cat and I hate thinking about living a whole year without one. I lost my furbaby on January 2. One of those things where love and logic don't overlap like a clock's hands at noon.

A dog will learn to eat what you feed them if you train them right.

Any animal will eat (almost) anything you feed them. If the vet says you HAVE to buy food from him, you should probably question his intent. Unless the food includes medication, you can get virtually anything else from other places usually for cheaper.

The goal, by the way, is for the food to be mushy. It's not the water that he needs, it's the soft food. Water just serves the purpose.

I'm not asking you to consider it. You really shouldn't questions my motives if you don't know why the dog needs it to begin with.

This is the only way he eats without getting sick. A vet helped come up with the idea.

I put water on my dogs dry food every day and they scarf it down. It's the only way they like it.

My dogs have eaten paper towels, kleenex, the fillings from their stuffed toys, sticks, drainage pipe, deer poop and their own vomit. That's pretty unappealing to me.

Thank God, I have no cats. A litter box would be like a buffet to my dogs.
