Rank The Draft-Eligible Qb's
|
The only two I'm really a fan of are Bridgewater and Mariota. Relative to Luck and RG3 as prospects, I'd rank them
Luck Bridgewater Mariota Griffin III In my opinion, Mariota is basically RG3 without the injury history and is a more elusive and savy (as far as protecting himself) runner. I've always been high on Mariota. I think his stock is going to continue to rise and he's a contender to be second QB off board.
Oh, and I think he wins the Heisman, too. Quote:You dont take him first overall. You trade back in the first stack up on picks and take Murray in the 2ndThat I can agree with...but he is not the #1 QB in the draft Quote:Not sure how you compare Murray to Dalton or Ponder.....Murray is a gunslinger. If I was to compare any of the current college QB (top prospect types) to Ponder or Dalton it would be AJ McCarron I was about to post the same thing as K1Lgus, I think he's this years Dalton as well. Not that his skill set is identical to Dalton, but that I think his ceiling is relatively low compared to Bridgewater, Mariota, Hundley. He'll be a solid player from day one and he'll be a solid QB throughout his career. Higher floor, lower ceiling. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:You are not alone in that belief. Seconded. This draft QB class is going to be VERY similar to 2012's. There a prototypical pocket passer similar to Luck (Bridgewater), a running QB who can sling it like RG3 (Mariota), and a player whose raw but has the talent like Tannehill (Hundley). There's also a QB whose size will be questioned like Wilson (Boyd) though he's definitely not falling to the third round.
Quote:I've always been high on Mariota. I think his stock is going to continue to rise and he's a contender to be second QB off board. If Kelly is still in Philly, Mariota will be an Eagle. Quote:If Kelly is still in Philly, Mariota will be an Eagle. If the eagles draft high enough. If Vick gets healthy and they win 6 or more games Mariota is probably gone. Im hoping he does end up there, that would be one fun team to watch.

The more I see of Mariota, I like.
The more I see of Bridgewater, I don't like. IMO, Mariota has the high ceiling, while Bridgewater may have a higher floor. One thing that worries me about Bridgewater is that a couple of time I saw defenders graze his jersey while he was in the pocket, he just gave himself up. I'm not sure what that is about, but it reminded me of Blaine. Also, Bridgewater doesn't make a ton of plays that make me go 'wow'. He misses on deep balls, sometimes overthrowing open receivers by 5 yards. I even saw him miss low on a routine 5 yard pass on a roll out. I would think a franchise QB would make that pass easily. Mariota, on the other hand, looks like he has the potential to be a superstar. He has superior measurables to Bridgewater (Height, Speed, Arm Strength), and I think his accuracy is even better. He may not have the pretty footwork like Teddy, but that can be learned. There may be a learning curve for him, but he gives you a better shot at having a star at QB.
Quote:The more I see of Mariota, I like. You have to be kidding me lol. Everything about this post is awful. Did you only watch the Rutgers game when Bridgewater was broken? And Mariota has like 3 times the amount of 0-5 yard passes than Bridgewater. I mean two games ago his entire TD stat line consisted of two screen pass TDs and a 1 yard rushing touchdown. Bridgewater is absolutely amazing in the roll out. Just stop.
TEST
The way this year is going, I don't see Teddy going first pick.
Titansequaltrash aka my mini me. Follows me around like a cute puppy dog.
Still not a fan of Mariota. Not seeing what everyone else sees there.
Quote:The way this year is going, I don't see Teddy going first pick. So who exactly do you see going first pick?
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Did you only watch the Rutgers game when Bridgewater was broken?Playing with pain is a testament to his toughness. Giving yourself up for a sack could be a sign for maybe having pocket awareness issues. The kid is a good QB, but I don't see enough to make me want to draft him over Clowney. Mariota, on the other hand, is a guy I could see with the number 1 pick. Admittedly, I had the pre-conceived notion about Mariota that he was simply a running QB that thrived on short passes. After seeing more of him, I could see this kid as being a star in the NFL. Yes, Oregon's offense has a great deal of bubble screens, and WR screens, but it's the other throws that he makes that shows me he has it in him to be a drop-back passer. There are plays where he is supposed to throw one of those quick screens, but he'll quickly decipher that the defense is playing the screen, and will go through his progressions and hit a receiver downfield. His accuracy is even better than Bridgewater's, too, IMO.

I am going to go out on a limb and say it's due to you being one of these new hipster Jameis fanboys. Teddy has insane pocket presence and constantly steps up in the pocket even if he is going to take a big hit. He is also amazing at going through his progressions when necessary. And the fact that you think Mariota is more accurate...despite playing on arguably the best offensive team in college, while only averaging 56% completion IN an offense that feeds on option reads and screen passes, is hilarious. He has only thrown above 60% in once game this year You are embarrassing yourself.

Quote:Still not a fan of Mariota. Not seeing what everyone else sees there. Not sure, not Bridgewater or Clowney though. Both players stock is falling while others are rising. Obviously could be wrong, but neither player is being talked about much right now. Only Clowney is being talked about, and it's only negative. Injury my right foot (which is injured).

I think you need to stop getting bent out of shape, when someone doesn't agree with you, child. I think Mariota has the tools to become a star, and Bridgewater doesn't. Watching the replays of Bridgewater's game vs. Kentucky, the only respectable opponent Louisville has played this year, and while he certainly made some great throws, he doesn't make those kinds of throws often enough for me to want to take him over Clowney. When I watch Mariota, he really jumps off the screen constantly with his athleticism, pocket awareness, accuracy(Ball placement), and arm strength. He even shows ability to scan the defense and go through his progressions as Teddy does. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
How anyone can rank Murray ahead of Teddy is beyond me. Murray to me is someone who needs the pieces around him to be great. Teddy is someone that makes everyone around him better. Look at the playmakers her has on Louisville. Then look at the backfield and WR's Murray works with.
Take Teddy and put him on Georgia? They would be undefeated.

His stock has dropped a lot, and if Clowney is the only option, I'd much rather trade down. As for Mariota, I think he'll have one good year in the NFL, and then regress. He just seems to me to be one of those athletes that are a QB rather than a QB that happens to be an athlete.

How can anyone watch Mariota and think he's more accurate than Bridgewater? That's amazing.
