What's the Deal? (QB complaints)

McCarron is no more of an option for this team than Tom Brady is.

If the price is right they would.

So you'd rather stick with status quo and watch this disaster at QB for the rest of the season. Breaking News, he wont turn it around.

Like I said, it's idiotic to suggest it, and I'm not surprised you're digging in.  No team is going to trade their primary backup at this point in the year.

It's irrelevant what I would rather do here.  I'm not the one making the decisions, but I'm smart enough to recognize the folly in thinking some team is going to trade their backup, especially if that team is already starting to question the starter as they are in Cincinnati.

Breaking news  The QB situation isn't going to be fixed in week 3 of the season. That will have to be sorted out once the season is over.

I agree with the sentiment that Bortles sucks, which he does.  But Henne is no better and unless we could trade for the likes of Garappolo (which isn't going to happen) then we are just stuck where we are.  Headed to another top 5 draft pick.

Allbright said it best. Kaep's talent is why he is not a starter, his politics is why he isn't a backup. He is obviously one of the best 64 QBs on the planet, but as a backup he isn't worth the distraction. For almost every team he would be the clear backup so it makes sense that they wouldn't be interested. For us however I think he, and his 2nd best all time INT%, could help a team that wants to protect the ball and win with run/defense.
The distraction that he (kap) would bring here is worse than any positive (which is very questionable) he would bring to the field. Don't kid yourself, that's why he's on nobodies roster. If he was that good, he'd still be on the 49's roster, simple as that. He was replaced by Blain Gabbert... doesn't that tell you something?

SF offered him a contract and he rejected it.  No other team has extended an offer because he's just not very good.  The political aspect to this is simply a peripheral issue for teams that MIGHT have considered him in a backup role.  He should have taken the money in SF.  He seriously overestimated his value on the market by rejecting the deal, and as a result, he's where he needs to be.

I don't buy that it would be a distraction. It would be a thing for literally one week and then we wouldn't hear about it again, just like Joe Mixon's giant distraction that predictably was forgotten right away too.

Also, he wasn't "replaced" by Gabbert it was a mix of Kaep struggling to return from his shoulder surgery and Gabbert once again fooling a terrible regime that the red practice jersey version of himself was the real version. Once the regular season started he quickly showed his true self yet again and Kaep took over and performed pretty well.

Like it or not they won't trade for anyone or bring anyone in at this point.
If they wanted to do that they'd have done it in the offseason, now it's just too late and we are stuck with Blake or the statue behind him until the end of the season. I don't like this either but it is what it is.

They'll either draft or sign (or both) a QB in the offseason. The trust I have in Coughlin to make the right choice next season is another matter but at the moment as much as the situation is frustrating nothing is going to change at the QB position at least until week 9.

What about bringing in Ryan Nassib? He's familiar with Marrone at Syracuse and with Coughlin with Giants? Would it hurt? Can he be any worse?

It is odd to see a team that is standing at the threshold of being consistent/competitive and to know it is still the QB. We haven't had a QB deliver us a win for so long.

The Offensive Line is serviceable
The TEss are bad
The WRss are serviceable
The RBs are good with big potential

The defense is going to suffer because of this offense.

I think the fact that they're as familiar with him as they are and they still haven't even brought him in for a visit speaks volumes.

You need to let go of the notion that there's an upgrade to be had in week 3 of the season.  There isn't.

I don't wanna hear, ohhh who can they bring in.......there are options out there that are better than Blake.

So why is this organization set on our QB situation?

You want to bring in a QB who at one point was beat out by Blaine Gabbert?

There's only one QB right now that I would get excited for if they brought in and that would be Romo. He'd have to A) want to play here, B) currently be healthy enough and C) be able to avoid injury for 14 more games or more. I'm not sure even 1 of those 3 things is reality at the moment though.

Of course.  Unfortunately, Romo likes walking and is getting paid plenty to watch from the booth. He's not coming out of retirement.

Once again, join us in reality where there isn't a fix coming at QB until the upcoming off season.

Why on earth would Romo leave a cushy job that he's really good at to come get pummeled behind this line?

You got your Nassib signing though.

What's frustrating to me is that with Bortles, Fournette's talent, and the talents of our stellar defense are wasted. Yesterday's game was a prime example.

I especially felt sorry for the defense. The second half collapse, and Henry's gashing long runs, came because the defense was totally gassed.

Yeah but he has to be as well.  I think the Jags would jump at the chance to bring him to evaluate him physically, but the first part of that is does he want to play and does he want to play here?  The answer to those questions is no for right now and probably no for good.  The only thing I could see Romo coming out of the booth for is a Dak Prescott injury.

Gassed and dispirited by their knowledge that without a reliable passing game, their efforts are largely in vain.  It's a tough spot to be in no doubt.
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.
