And tell us what our team is good at and can’t do.   It’s the Jags,  I know those patriots fans haven’t seen but two games of the jags all year.  And those were the last two games.  All I have seen from the pats fans is, ‘their Defense isn’t that good, they gave Steelers 42’
2 1 handed touchdown catches. Another ridiculous TD catch by maybe the best WR of all time and countless 4th down TDS. I mean...  god some of those players were insane. Pats OLine better be ready.

Actually, your D struggles against TEs and RBs out of the back field, just like Tenn.

Also, the Run D is vulnerable.  NE used to destroy Dareus when he was in Buffalo.  I think it's sort of funny your division was so god awful, the Titans actually made the postseason and the fact you think the best offense you would have played this year is somehow as good or better than NE's.

This will be the best team you would have played all year.  Trust me. If you go looking for things, it reeks of desperation.  Pitt's D was terrible, alllowing 30 points per game at home for the last 5 or 6 games.

NE allowed 7 on Saturday, before a garbage time TD and your D allowed 35.

NE has the best red zone D in the league in terms of creating turnovers, and is second in the conference behind Jax in red zone D.

For 8 straight games, before some injuries deralied the momentum, NE was holding teams to an 11.87 point average, which is incredible, yet no one knows about because the media is jealous of BB.

NE also allowed the least amount of point in the NFL since October 1.

Good God that's a lot of cherry picked stats.
Well since October, the Jaguars have the best defense in afternoon games where the relative humidity is below 65%, terror threat level is orange, the price of GE's stock declined the previous week, and the moon is in the waxing phase

It's not cherrypicked. Shows a pattern of lies by the media. They have told you and everyone else that NE'a D is bad. It's like this every year.

They couldn't wait to jump on a shiny, new bandwagon toy like Jax. Be prepared, is all I am saying.  NE is not Pitt and Pitt is not NE. I'll leave it to you to guess what that means.

The thing I hate the most is the arrogance.  Screw them.

The thing I hate most is cheating Goodell framing the Pats to steal draft picks to try to create more parity to be able to move the Jags to London. That's what I hate.

The Pats will be respectful and try to do what the Steelers didn't but don't buy a word of it. As far as Pats fans are concerned, they've won the SB. No way any of the other QB's can beat Brady.  They have no respect for us or our D, they think it will be the T*tans all over again. I also bet they've watched maybe 2 of our games this season so have no idea how good we actually are.

The Pats missing Edelman and Hightower is huge. Both are key parts and looking at the Pats D, their D line isn't great and they'll have to bring LB's to get pressure which opens up the middle. The O line was fantastic and if Fournette can get similar production, the Pats are going to have to open up. Their D is built to play with a lead.

Now i think our D matches up really well. They have Gronk, Cooks, Amendola and Hogan with White in the backfield. We matchup well one on one, i think Marrone and Coughlin will have a plan for Gronk, but Cooks is the only deep threat we really need to worry about but the others guys are 8-10 yard route runners, Colvin and Bouye can handle that. We still have Telvin and Jack playing the screens and the flat routes. We have the pace and speed to take away that quick release and make him hold it that extra half second and give the pass rush a chance.

Now that's where the real fun will be, in the trenches. I'm calling it here, Yannick against Nate Solder. He's going to give him nightmares and at least one fumble.

The Pats D was god awful to start and the Miami defeat a few weeks ago is the tape to study. But what great teams have the Pats beat this season? Lost to Carolina, struggling against Buffalo until the refs stepped in.

There's a blueprint to beat the Pats, the Broncos showed it, if only we had a guy who was a key part of that D on our current roster......oh yeah!!!

Go Jags!!! Shock the World!

Yes, proven time again NE was framed.  Obviously.  Hence, why everyone with a college degree knows Goodell' lies in federal court are tied to his bastardization of Article 46.

Ever wonder why he tried to protect Ray Rice and the Ravens?  I did and Pats fans know why.

Yes, I watched the Jets run for 256 yards on your D and Garoppolo just dropped 40 on them, so we are very familiar.

Our biggest challenge imo will be overcoming the awefull officiating that will inevitably go against us.

You're right, we do. The "journalists" and radioheads spend every waking hour showing their entitlement and jealousy of Belichick, tryign to misrepresent, lie outright and brainwash the morons.

ESPN folllows the same model and has made millions off of it for years.

Did you miss the Seth Wickersham pieces where he claims "Pats staffers" are his "sources"...? LOL

Yes, Pats employees always openly talk to ESPN behind Kraft and BB's back. That really makes sense.

That's my biggest worry, look at some of the calls the T*tans had, Decker and Butler grabbing each other, Butler slips, OPI.

Hell, a called false start got changed into a New England 1st down. I fear we'll get the Tuck Rule 2.0

The key to beat the Pats is pretty much twofold.  Eliminate Brady and Gronk.  Those are their best players and the ones that can beat this team.  Of course, by "eliminate" I don't advocate dirty play or hoping players get hurt.  I'm just saying take Brady's ability to throw the ball and take Gronk away from being able to catch a pass.

On offense, not only continue to pound the rock, but also continue to let Blake Bortles put the ball in the air via play action and rollouts.  Passes don't have to "go to the house", they just need to get the next first down.

The bottom line is if the Jaguars play well in all three phases with NO MISTAKES, they can and will win this game.

(01-15-2018, 08:48 AM)Caldra Wrote: On offense, for us? K.I.S.S. Keep It Simple Stupid. Nothing fancy. You run the football down their throats and you go to the play action game early and often just like you did yesterday to get the defense away from the box. Take 1 - 2 shots in the first half and the second half if needed but don't get cute. Getting cute with New England is the surest way to lose. They're very disciplined. You're not going to out smart them too much. So you just need to line up man for man and get physical and nasty with them. That's how Denver won. That's how we will win it.

This is the most important part of the offensive gameplan for me. Hackett gameplans and schemes well. He just can't get flustered midgame if things aren't going his way, which we've kind of seen this season.

The biggest thing Hackett needs to do and focus on this week in my opinion: he needs to maximize his personnel because BB and his defense won't let the Jags get away with sloppy playcalls. If Fournette is still injured and struggling, don't continue to run him for no gain if Yeldon/Ivory/Grant are picking up good chunks of yards every run in relief. Don't send Lee down field for a deep ball when he hasn't caught any all season (or maybe one that I'm forgetting) when you've got Cole whose whole role is to catch deep balls from Bortles. Don't send Cole into the middle of the field to get leveled on third down with Hurns running a post route on the outside, when Hurns excels over the middle and Cole excels outside. Don't run a TE screen with Lewis who runs like a giraffe when Koyack has just shown he's got a bit of burst to him and can turn those plays into positive yardage.

Sure, it's easy to gameplan for NE's defense in general; just run the ball and control the clock. But Hackett's got away with wasting some gameplans and plays on ineffective players throughout the year. He needs to not be cute this time and not worry about who's "better" in general. It's a game of matchups. Maximize your personnel and force NE to shut down every player and play. Don't shoot yourself in the foot by forcing square pegs into round holes.

If the Jags win the coin toss, don't defer. Take the ball, establish your offense, and establish a lead. This team plays better, top to bottom, when playing with a lead. Don't allow Brady to set the tone of the game and get a lead if you have the chance.

As for defense, everyone else has already hit the nail on the head: Sacksonville needs to pressure Brady. If that front 4 doesn't generate pressure on Brady, this game is over regardless of how good the offensive gameplan is. Brady must go down and he must go down hard (like Vic used to say and like someone else has already said today). The only way to beat Brady is to make him uncomfortable and then keep him off the field. He's not going to test the Jags secondary, he'll wait for something to open up. And if you give Brady enough time; something will open up. This game won't be easy. But, this front 4 has shown more than enough that they can disrupt a QB on their own. Now, they need to show the world that they deserve that nickname and that they're for real.

Keys to beating the Patritos:

-Sack Tom Brady early, and sack him often
-Be super disciplined, because the Refs are going to be helping the Patriots in every way they can
-Forge a fake gameplan so when Belichick gets his hands on it, he'll be working from the wrong gameplan
-Make sure the balls are properly inflated
-Score more points than they do.

Alright guys, I read through the thread and I've seen a couple of great points on how to beat the Pats.

As someone pointed out the Jags need to get creative and not be afraid of going for big plays. You gotta mix it up. Run the football, sling it, and mix in a good amount of play action. Once you become predictable, you're done.

If Jax plays with the same mentality they did against Pit, they have a very good chance of winning this game. Bortles showed serious balls, and he needs to carry that into Sunday. The problem for you is the Patriots will be talking up Jacksonville all week, saying how great they are and how difficult the match up will be. There will be no bulletin board material and so the Jags will somehow have to figure out a way to play with that massive chip on their shoulders regardless.

Regarding penalties. The perception that the Pats “get all the calls” is simply not true. It stems from hatred and jealousy of our most heated rivals (Pit, Bal, NYJ, Buf, Den, Ind.. the list goes on). In fact defensive backs hold Gronk on almost every play and it’s hardly ever called. Jax will need to do this as well.

Just wanted to share a few thoughts on the matter. Good luck Sunday, I will be there hoping for a great game with everyone getting out of it healthy. If the Jags do pull this off I will be rooting for you in the super bowl regardless of who they play. I have lurked on several team boards and not blowing smoke but this is so far the best fan base I've come across. Some of these other teams’ fans are filled with the most psychologically tormented souls I’ve ever seen. Obviously most of you hate the Pats, but it's not even close in comparison.

Since 2017, the Jungle is now independent of the team but still run by the same crew. We are here to support and discuss all things Jaguars and all things Duval!
