Like the silly delusional club of fans were saying they gave Gus a pass the first 3 years because he had no talent, I won't blame Blake until he has a real coach. I have no doubt in my mind if he played for a competent coach he'd be way better than what he's showing.

Blake shouldn't regularly be in a position at this stage in his career where he has to win games for us. This is the fundamental issue I take with your statement.


I get where you're coming from though. I just don't think it's quite so cut and dry. We need to remember that he's still basically a kid and, right now, his confidence is in the toilet. Not to absolve him of his shoddy play of late buy I lay the majority of the blame at the feet of the coaching staff.


It seems like right now, he is being coached to play counter to his nature and it's having and overall, adverse affect on his game in totality. When he took that last sack, I was screaming for him to just take off, pick up positive yardage and get out of bounds. Instead, he goes all Keystone Cops trying to make something out of nothing...again.


Why was that? I dunno but the way he's playing here lately just doesn't feel "right" to me and I'm not talking about his wonky mechanics nor anything of that nature. It's in his head and he's going to have to play through this if he's going to come out on the other side.


Now, we as fans can be angry about the results on the field but you kind of have to treat this whole thing like you would your children as they mature. You know they're going to dumb <expletive>. You hate it. You try and protect your children from it but you ultimately, you can't but don't turn your backs on them.

I understand he's still young and he's struggling mentally, but it's not like he had to win us that game. He just needed to close it out by converting a first down. He threw way too many ducks so nonchalantly. It's like he didn't care where he was throwing.

He got pizzed that a reporter mentioned the fans booing, implying he wasn't doing his job. He made the comment that fans wouldn't appreciate him coming to their work and screaming at them for a mistake...or something like that. Stormed off after that.

He wasn't crying.  

 

The Jags employee who was "running" the presser had announced "last question" just before FatBoy Lamm asked about the booing.

 

So when he'd finished his answer, which was a good one, he walked away.  

 

He wasn't crying nor was he "storming off." The presser was over. 

 

This "crying/storming away" talk is just people trying to inject their own narrative here after the young man stood there well-composed for 9 minutes answering some tough questions after a really tough loss.

Add that to the facts that his average down in distance is about 17 yards thanks to boneheaded penalties by his offensive line, and that his offensive coordinator and playcaller apparently spent the offseason huffing solvents, it isnt surprising to me that Blake is struggling.
