Should I still watch this team lose?

We are doing the third one with Caldwell. Shack Harris was fired for less. I wonder how it would have been if the owner hadn't pushed the we are so close only need pass rushers draft. Oh well the past looks better with the crap of the current lens. Honestly early COVID I took advantage of free game pass and watched Caldwell teams and yuck. We built a one year wonder of a defense. Never really built the offense. Staggering bad plans and bad coaching.

That team played against backups basically all year, had so much injury luck and it led to the resigning of Bortles.

We would have gotten away with a retooling, had we not alienated and/or sent packing our core defensive players, avoided the Foles trade and deal, and not extended Bortles. Bad decisions on top of bad decisions.

They are certainly in that conversation as well. My point is, the a healthy Jets roster wins 7-8 games out of 10 against a healthy Jags roster.
This is a results-oriented business. There are no trophies or titles given for "moral victories" or for "winning the draft". Our record with DC is 37-86. 6-10 is our 2nd best season in 8 years of Caldwell leadership. These are the FACTS.
Eric Bieneimy, Trevor Lawrence, another OT and sprinkle in some defensive pieces and we’ll try again next year.

If we had drafted Lamar Jackson instead of Taven Bryon, we would possibly be a loaded, Super Bowl contender right now. I feel bad for the browns…

Honestly, I don't think either team will win another game this year. The Jaguars certainly won't be a favorite in any one game, but upsets happen. We weren't favored against the Colts, but we beat them and we play them again. We were big under dogs against the Titans (currently 5-0) and came within 3 points of beating them. With 10 games remaining, we could get lucky. Other teams are made up of human beings. People can have bad days. If the other team fumbles the ball or gives up a couple of interceptions and Minshew plays well, we could get lucky and squeak one out. With 10 chances, it may not be probable, but isn't unrealistic. The difference is that the Jets are THAT bad. You could give them a couple of unforced turnovers and would still likely lose to everyone on their schedule. Maybe they get lucky once in one game, but lighting striking twice for them seems remote. Again, I seriously hope I'm wrong. I really want that number one pick. This could be franchise changing.

I hear you; and I agree for the most part. But we are THAT bad as well... don't kid yourself. If the Jets get Darnold back healthy and a few guys on defense, they have a better shot at winning games than we do. Indy was good fortune of scheduling in Week 1 of a COVID season with no preseason games and a new offense they hadn't scouted yet. Similar with Tennessee...they will both murder us next time around. Houston is bad, but WAYYYY better than us.

Also, think of all the teams who have had the #1 pick in the last 20 years, and I don't think any of them won a Super Bowl. And most of them still suck. First, I do absolutely agree with the new GM and coaching staff. Second, this isn't just any "#1 pick". Over the last 22 years, only Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck were rated so highly as quarterbacks. Trevor Lawrence is seen as a can't miss future pro-bowl quarterback. I don't want us settling for Ryan Leaf instead of Peyton Manning. I want that number one pick. Our season is already over. I'm hoping for us to lose every game going forward. This team needs something to be excited about. Trevor Lawrence is it.

Also, think of all the teams who have had the #1 pick in the last 20 years, and I don't think any of them won a Super Bowl. And most of them still suck. I have completely changed my position and now I am hoping we can get the #1 pick, so I agree with you. I'd rather draft Trevor Lawrence than anyone else. But history shows that having the #1 pick isn't necessary, and it doesn't reliably change the fortunes of the teams that have it. The best teams have great GMs and great coaching staffs. And I'll see your Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck, and raise you Aaron Rogers, Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson, Drew Brees, Lamar Jackson, DeShaun Watson, Tom Brady, Phillip Rivers, and Ben Roethlisberger, none of whom were selected with the #1 overall pick. It is FAR more important to get a great GM and a great coaching staff than to have the #1 overall pick. In fact, I would say that if the current regime is allowed to select and coach Trevor Lawrence, it will be a completely wasted pick, because they will ruin him. And also, if you look at the last draft, it is starting to look like the best QB in that draft might have been the 3rd one selected, #6 overall. That's why, although I would love to be able to select Trevor Lawrence, I'm not totally desperate about it.
This is the first time ever that I have not watched two straight games. Actually, ten straight quarters if you count my leaving Buffalo Wild Wings early the previous game. I just can't justify going to BWW and running up a $45-$50 food and bar tab to watch this. If they were on TV here...maybe. But I wouldn't guarantee it.

Was tempted to maybe do it again this weekend but decided against it and just watched the scoreboard updates while catching the network game here locally. Glad I saved the money and got a nap in too since Pittsburgh was blowing out the Browns. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
What did we expect? We are #31 in active payroll at 114 mill. We are leading the lead in dead money at 44 million. Compare that to 2017 when we were #1 in active payroll at 151 mill and #10 in dead money at 11 mill. This is quite the roller coaster ride. During this same time the Titans have been no lower than #10 in active payroll. most years around #4. The good news is next year we should be out of the woodshed from what I see. Now before we go running off celebrating we should be sure the same managers that have been doing poorly are gone. We need someone who can manage these numbers better, well at least not yo-yo around like we have been. Then we can be patient and develope a good team. ...not before.
A new broom always sweeps clean.
If GM/Coach remain next season, I'm not a jaguars fan anymore. It'll show they clearly don't care about whats best for the team.
I'll just root for the hometown Bears and Nine Inch Nick. (10-20-2020, 04:16 PM)Jag149 Wrote: What did we expect? We are #31 in active payroll at 114 mill. Watching this team lose week after week is akin to watching the private eye video of your spouse cheating on you. It's not something that you want to see, and makes your stomach turn, but it's something that you have to witness in order to have an informed opinion/decision.
I wouldn't judge anyone for deciding to not watch this burning heap of dung. My only hope now when watching a game is that we are miserable enough to force a reaction by the Kahn-man. There's a time to be positive and see the potential, and there is a time to be real and take appropriate action.
I tuned in to watch our MVP Punter and was let down by an absolutely dreadful punt that has just ruined the last remaining positive this season. I mean the guy gets crazy opportunities he should be automatic.
