Biden: 'We Will Take, Literally, Millions of Automobiles Off the Road'

Most of you were scared that this would happen.
So scared you called me a troll for not sharing your fear.
How's the bus riding going?

Lol. You dolt. The price of almost everything in this country has gone up by almost 25%. Put another way, 1 dollar in 2019 is equivalent to 1.24 today. That's insane. Over 4 years? 1 in 4 people are struggling with the cost of living. A person making 50k would need a 10k raise today to have the same standard of living they had just over 3 years ago. At 100k, you would need 20k more to have the same purchasing power. I'm glad you're doing fine, but you lost a boatload of money largely due to bad governance.

The problem with you and your friends is that you're perfectly happy to be told what the right hand is doing while the left hand is in your pocket. If you think this trend will slow down with another 4 years of establishment power, I don't know what else to tell you.

You guys said that Biden was going to make us stop driving our own cars and start taking the bus.  You guys were very specific.
You don't get to say "we just meant inflation in general".  Have you started taking the bus or not?

I'm subsidizing my daughter's fuel expense so she can drive to work. I will not allow my daughter on a city bus that takes her to the downtown bus terminal or expect her to ride it home at night. Fortunately I can afford that but it's an unneccessary strain on her independence and my wallet. I imagine that many people would do the same if they could. [BLEEP] hole.

You're probably subsidizing more than just that for her.  If gas going from $2.50 to $3.00 is that big of a deal for her, you're probably covering her insurance and other stuff too.  Was she driving much when Trump was President? Did she have the same job? Have you considered helping her get a more fuel efficient car?

Gas, rent went up 450 a month, car insurance went up 340 for 6 months, child care went up $110 a week, diapers for example went up 6 dollars for the same count package. She got a nice 1.5% annual raise each year the last 3 years. Yeah,, she had to move back home because of [BLEEP] holes like you that voted for that vegetable to destroy our economy.

Right, inflation sucks, but it has nothing to do with this plan to get more people eventually riding buses.
The inflation was set off by all the COVID stimulus, especially PPP and the extra child tax credits.  All that stuff is gone now.
And most of this infrastructure bill/bus stuff hasn't even been paid out yet.
If you want to have a real conversation about reducing the chances of inflation ramping up again, we'd discuss how to reduce our long term debt by reforming Medicare and social security. We'd discuss how to increase supply of housing and food by making both easier to produce with less regulation.  We wouldn't waste time on how much we like or dislike public transit.

Oh, forgot the point of this thread. Yeah, ok... you thought it was gonna happen in 4 years. That's what you think we're concerned about. That's not how any of this works.

There isn't a mass transit system of any kind where I live so, no.

But you are still a troll.

Reading back, the dog pile is posts 37 thru 57.  You weren't involved.  Good for you.

The guilty parties in this instance included Jags, FSG, Bunnie, and Americus.

FSG saying I want to force people to live on top of each other, the rest of those mentioned agreed, saying that gas prices alone would force people to live on top of each other and stop driving. Said I was trolling for disagreeing because in y'all's minds it was self evident that Democrats are going to pack everyone into dense housing with no cars.

So did it happen?

Maybe I was speaking facts and all y'all were wrong.

I for one hope they don't take millions of cars off the road, that would be very bad for my business

Nothing to worry about in your lifetime.  Americans love their cars (and the freedom they offer) too much to give them up.

Not according to FSG.  We're all about to be herded on to buses.  They've been trying for more than 2 years.  Any day now, I guess.

It's a small strike zone, to be sure.  It wasn't really all that high.

Dude, you have remarkable short-term vision. It's undoubtably the goal to move people into city centers and public transportation. You know this. It's part of your naive "optimism." Force is the word if eventually remove all other options. The fact that it hasn't happened in 3  years isn't proof of absence of this goal. It's just not feasible yet.

No, you dolt.
Yes, a lot of Democrats want gas prices to go up.  Yes, they favor policies that usually (and recently did) cause inflation.
They also favor... wait for it... electric cars and hybrid cars.
If they really wanted to herd you into dense cities using only buses to get around, they would not be trying to create these additional options.
Think!
