Outside of Gus Bradley, Luke Joeckel, and the pass rush, what are your 3 major concerns going into this season?

Quote:How about can Blake be effective early in games? A large portion of his yards and td came when they were down by 9 or more points. Need this type of production when game is tied, close or winning.

I had to double check your stat here, but you are correct. He even had his best qb rating when behind by 9 or more.

More telling is that last year Blake had 60 plays of 20+ yards when the Jaguars were behind in games and only 3 such plays when the Jaguars were ahead in games.

Not sure if that's more of what the playbook looks like in those situations than his choice of receiving options.

You certainly don't think he's calling the plays, do you?

So how many garbage yards do Derek Carr have? Do that research instead of hating on Blake all the time.

No NFL linebacker duo allowed more yards in coverage than the Jaguars Telvin Smith and Paul Posluszny (1,178) last season.

This makes me worried.

Quote:I was stunned to be honest. The Jaguars special teams unit in 2014 may have been the worst I have ever seen.

Agreed...I gave ST a pass that year though assuming that the roster just lacked talent.  It was clear at the beginning of last year that it was coaching.  It's clear again this year that coaching in the failure.

Ouch....but I also don't understand the defensive scheme...doesn't Bradley essentially play 8 in the box and it's a 4-4 defense with Cyp in the box?  It seems sad that we are that committed to the LOS and can't stop runs up the middle or passes over the middle.

Its the zone scheme. Zone coverage only works when you can rush the QB properly. What's happening with us is 1)QB has tons of time to throw , which makes it easy to wait for a player to find the soft spot in the zone 2) Poz is slow and Telvin/Cyp are not good at zone coverage at all. So when an opposition receiver crosses from zone to another the players are slow to react and respond appropriately.

Another reason why I blame Gus. If the personnel isn't working in your system, change the system to maximize their skills.

Outside of those 3 things I'd say special teams, turnovers and my mental health.

No pain, no gain.

No, anyone who goes out of their way to criticize him without allowing him to develop and refuse to give him some of the credit for the resurgences on this offense. People constantly want to say his success is because of garbage time and nitpick his flaws as if many other qb's in the league haven't benefit from the same thing or have similar issues with their game as well. I guess you want people like me who believe in him to proclaim that he's a bust or a bum to justify whatever negative agenda you and others have of him on this message forum. No wonder in recent years we as a fan base don't deserve nice things because when we do get something we don't appreciate it.
