Jags Minicamp Report

#61

Quote:If not for the injury Jack likely goes top 5 or top 10 to another team and would be expected to be a day 1 stud. He has that kind of athleticism and motor. I too agree with starting him slow but once the season rolls around and hes 100 percent he should be a stud week 1 and we should be expecting him to make plays.

I totally agree. He needs to be on the field day one.Somewhere.

Quote:Oehser actually talks sense, albeit in a really annoying manner.

Yeah I mean [long pause] when Oehser talks [long pause] he takes forever [long pause] to get to his [long pause] point...

Quote:He also said Poz is the best MLB the Jags has ever had.  Uh, no!

I don't even get how he could have overlooked Mike P. It's not even close between the two in terms of tackling ability. Poz gets his tackles, but he consistently stuff RBs for no, or very little, gain. After Mike P I'd go with Hardy NIckerson as second best. Then maybe Poz.

Listening to Gus, they're having Jack focus on Special Teams while having him backup Poz at MLB. This may be his role to start the season. Jack is sure to be a great player for several years, but there's no need to rush him too fast out of the gate. Jack will find his niche, but with so many new players it's more of a priority to ensure they jell together well. It might be wise to temper expectations for Jack to start week one.

Minicamp is cool and all, but I can't wait to see padded practices with Ramsey back and Jack in his rightful position.

Leave it to Gus to take a sure thing day 1 starter type pick and put him on special teams and as a backup in a group(linebacker) lacking in top tier talent. This guy could literally play anywhere on the defense and Gus and co. choose backup MLB and special teams? Ryan Davis 2.0 this season lol. Myles "too important on special teams to play defense" Jack, unreal if this happens... Basically a wasted season if he is not getting starter type playing time on defense. Hope I am wrong but Jesus... Let the man just go play ball day 1@ any LB position, linebacker is not a 'transition' position where it takes years to develop. Let the kid play!

It was reported Myers yesterday was 5/6: 3 on 3 extra points, nailed a 43 and 53 yarder and missed (went a little bit on the right) a 60 yarder.

I'm cool with that. As long as he fixed those PAT yips is all I'm worried about with him.

He never struggled in practice. Let's see how he does in the games.
