7th Round Pick Woodward out for season

#61

Quote:Branch was a second round pick. He was going to get every opportunity to prove himself. It didn't happen in anything but flashes. Woodard was, and continues to be a project. The injury changed nothing.

What made him a project? Was Hurns a project too?

Quote:This is the NFL Yo Boy, not Pop Warner. They have professionals. You should find something else to worry about than them warming up, haha.

Worrying hmm naww.. Its too late for that. How many players will it take to get hurt, year end and year out, before we come to the conclusion that maybe it is the strength and condition coaches not preparing these guys well?

I'm not sure if the strength and conditioning coaches are the issue.

Last year, Fowler got hurt less than 30 minutes into his first practice and it was an ACL tear.

His FIRST PRACTICE.  He was only drafted by the Jaguars about a week or so earlier.  The Jaguars strength and conditioning coaches didn't have TIME to put him in their program.  Heck, as of that injury, Fowler had not even signed his contract.

Ramsey's and Woodward's dynamic was almost exactly the same.

It's not as though these guys had been with the team for months on end and had hamstring pulls, etc.

Parnell?  He broke his hand.  Not sure how strength and conditioning coaches are supposed to prevent that.

I have no clue how Bowanko tore his labrum on his hip(?).  But even if you pin this one on the S & C coaches, that's one out of four injuries by May.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

Dude, you realize how rare that is right? Your comparing every 7th round pick to Allen Hurns, or whatever player that made it that outplayed their draft slot. That simply is not realistic. Woodward, injury or not, had an uphill battle to make the roster. Period. Its a numbers game, does that mean he does not make it? Who knows, we wont know, he tore his achilles, but your making this out to be a bigger deal than it needs to be.

Woodward out injured stinks for the player, I feel bad for him, hope he has a great recovery.

Open your eyes and watch some film on him.  He's a project.  Hurns was a gift from heaven, but the possibility of someone like him coming along undrafted is almost unfathomable.  That wasn't the case for Woodard, but hey, keep telling yourself a 7th round DPR from a small school was the lynch pin in fixing the pass rush if it helps.

Well, you'd be coming to the wrong conclusion, especially if you look at rookie injuries.  As has already been pointed out, these guys haven't even been IN the training and conditioning program with the team yet to the extent where the program would have anything to do with it.  This is a matter of fact, not some delusional fantasy you've cooked up in your head.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

270 is just right for a DE, but the 6'6" part must have blown right over your head.

"Hurns was a gift from Heaven" .. So who is to say Woodard couldnt be??

Dude just because these guys havent started the strength and conditioning program doesnt mean their not warming up, Doing stretches, and running... What im saying might be delusional to people who never played sports a day in their life.

Im not blaming them, only saying what if? Before these guys get on the field they have to be stretched and warmed up correctly... Think about it, they havent been playing in months.. Im only saying what if? I know injuries happen, like the Parnell thing, its just football..

My point exactly...especially for a team with as many unproven LEO prospects as we have.

The odds of him coming in here from a small school and as a 7th rounder and making the same impact that Hurns did are next to nothing. You really can't be that slow...

So you gave me one example of a 7th round/UDFA defying the odds in the Jags 21 year history.

Herp derp.
