I have been one of those fans very critical of Caldwell, his every move i judged. I mean how could i not, when i have had Gene Smiff as the gm for so long.


Caldwell has had a vision, and he has stuck with it.. Through the rough patches he stayed the course.. Easily he could have signed Vernon, or Norman, and risk potentially putting this team in cap troubles for the future.. But he didnt... He made the right move by not over paying for those guys... And i was very critical of him for not signing Norman.. Looks like it was a good move..


Caldwell have single handily, bought pro-bowl caliber players here to Jacksonville, and we now have arguably the best team in team history and possibly the league...

Agreed, and keep in mind that Gus is just another Dave decision, including the extension they gave to Gus.

Dave is an excellent GM. Genius? Geniuses split the atom or create the Iphone. I wouldn't equate anything a football player, coach or GM does as being genius. Heck, I'd even say guys who build houses or buildings are bigger geniuses than any football guy. That's just me.

Caldwell said he put off picking a QB until 2014 because 2013 was a bad QB class.

 

I chalked it up as a rookie GM learning on the job. You can't be great your first year.
