Hey Libertarians--- Watcha Gonna DO?

Quote: I think it can potentially be beneficial if you write in someone who potentially could be a candidate for the position in the future. If enough people write in the candidate, it will get some attention. Ok, that's not really what I'm talking about. Sounds like you're talking about somebody with legitimate support, not somebody trying to be funny by writing themselves or their friend in. We show less advertisements to registered users. Sounds like you're talking about somebody with legitimate support, not somebody trying to be funny by writing themselves or their friend in. Though I'm more comfortable with the strategy I mentioned, the potential benefit of writing yourself, a friend, pet, or fictional character is if enough people do this, the media might right stories on this. The hope then is it would get the attention of the major political parties that they have failed when given the opportunity to govern on the federal level. I'm convinced that the # 1 reason why Donald Trump is on the verge of clinching the Republican Nomination is the Republican ' Leadership' in Washington and a large number of elected representatives acted more like RINOs than Republicans. He more than doubled the deficit. Obama is essential Bush on steroids let's not rewrite history here. Lol, why do your get mad when I provide facts? I am THE Anchorman, after all! Quote:Lol, why do your get mad when I provide facts? I am THE Anchorman, after all! Mad? No I'm on your side. Quote:I can't stand bill Clinton... but he left office with a budget surplus....We're still in Iraq just as much as we were in Afghanistan after Bush said Mission Accomplised on that bloody aircraft carrier. Maybe not in the numbers, but Obama has had to send troops back there. In fact, a Navy Seal was killed over there yesterday. Neither one of them has done any favors to the national debt. This is what I found regarding Clinton. He didn't do it all by himself. The economy at the time was a huge factor. The Clinton years showed the effects of a large tax increase that Clinton pushed through in his first year, and that Republicans incorrectly claim is the "largest tax increase in history." It fell almost exclusively on upper-income taxpayers. Clinton’s fiscal 1994 budget also contained some spending restraints. An equally if not more powerful influence was the booming economy and huge gains in the stock markets, the so-called dot-com bubble, which brought in hundreds of millions in unanticipated tax revenue from taxes on capital gains and rising salaries. Clinton’s large budget surpluses also owe much to the Social Security tax on payrolls. Social Security taxes now bring in more than the cost of current benefits, and the "Social Security surplus" makes the total deficit or surplus figures look better than they would if Social Security wasn’t counted. But even if we remove Social Security from the equation, there was a surplus of $1.9 billion in fiscal 1999 and $86.4 billion in fiscal 2000. So any way you count it, the federal budget was balanced and the deficit was erased, if only for a while. Quote:If you want to acknowledge facts Obama has spent more than every other president before him combined. He more than doubled the deficit. Obama is essential Bush on steroids let's not rewrite history here.This. We are triilions of dollars in debt and though that deficit didn't begin with Obama, he has added to it exponentially.
Quote:I can't stand bill Clinton... but he left office with a budget surplus.... You can't stand Bill Clinton and say that he left office with a "surplus", but what does that really mean? In reality, it meant that the U.S. government was projected to spend less due to revenue increases from raising taxes. At the time, many people were not only riding the impending "dot-com" bubble, but real estate became the "new entitlement". Among Bill Clinton's accomplishments, many liberals such as you tend to ignore the welfare reform that he signed into law. By the way, that came from a republican congress. Obama "bringing the country back from near depression" had nothing to do with him. If anything, his policy regarding health care made matters worse. The fallen economy was all about two factors. 9/11 and the inflated housing/loan market. Now I will concede that the housing/loan market was increased and inflated during G.W. Bush's watch, but there were certainly warnings. Another factor was lowering interest rates. Credit became "cheap" and "easy to get". Where Obama has failed is appointing Janet Yellen as Chair of the Federal Reserve. Her refusal to raise interest rates, especially this year (during an election year) shows how his judgment is off. It's not about what is best for the economy, it's all about what is best politically. At least acknowledge the facts. There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those who don't. Quote:Mad? No I'm on your side. Obama is second to only Jesus Christ as greatest person to walk this planet. Have I been misinformed? I thought it was Dave Caldwell.
The sun's not yellow, it's chicken.
During political season everything becomes so personalized.
I'm sure most people here understand that the President has very little to do with the economy. Congress is the driving force - but of course the president will get the credit or blame. You better worry about your Mr or Ms Congressperson - whom most voters can't even name.

You think the deficit is bad now? It would get much much higher if they raised interest rates. In reality, the Fed can't raise interest rates because the country can't afford it.

“It is the job of thinking people not to be on the side of the executioners.”

I too think that the rates should increase but I feel that the government should revert back to the Gold Standard.
I am not opposed to raising the minimal wage, but I do feel that it's kind of stupid. In that it doesn't truly solve the problem that the politicians portray it to do. If it was so perfect and allowed people to have a reasonable living wage, than why on earth would you have to keep constantly increase it every couple of years.... duh...
If anything it is looking more like the Fed is planning on dropping rates into the negative :/

Negative interest rates are a prime indicator that what we call "money" is actually worth less than nothing. If I had a lot of it I'd be very upset. Luckily, I don't.

Quote:The country can afford it, it just doesn't want to. Exactly. A 1/4% (at least) rate hike would be a start. Quote:If anything it is looking more like the Fed is planning on dropping rates into the negative :/ I doubt that would happen and if it does, say hello to another recession. One thing that is hampering The Fed right now is political season and it being an election year. If one looks at basic fundamentals right now, the stock market as well as the overall economy is weak and in danger of another burst bubble. The market is artificially pumped up right now and setting up for yet another huge decline. There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those who don't. |
