James Sample has all-pro potential as a strong safety (especially in this scheme)

Quote:Safety more so then any other on that side of the ball. The original statement was off.
Lol yea, not at all but ok. If your SS is making alot of tackels, your defense more than likely isnt having a good game.

Quote:Cyp is better than Sample. Cyp just mentally don't get it sometimes. He has the tools.
If CYPR37N hasn't gotten it, whatever it is by now, he won't get whatever it is. The mental break downs relate to mistackles and bad angles that allows him to be beaten in the passing game. If/when Samples out plays him in the pre-season, we'll have a new SS along w/our new FS. Sample is expecting to be the 2016 starter by his own accord.

The SS position is set up to stop the running game as the FS is set up to stop the passing game.

I agree, but not more than a linebacker is set up to stop the running game.

I think with FS Gipson, pass rush pressure & CB Prince added to the mix (and if the team gets a Joey Bosa, or Buckner) to go with a healthy Marks & Fowler Jr. that Cyprien will play better this year...
