Who won't renew tix?

Quote:If I didn't live in California I'd have season tickets for sure. I've considered buying them in the past just as support but have not. What part of NoCal do you live? We just went out there last summer and toured Cal Berkeley & Stanford. I didn't get a chance to get any further north than Sausalito, San Rafael & Berkeley so that's in the works for the next visit. Never realized the hills in metro SF were that extreme. TV doesn't do it justice. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:I hear God is a Jags fan. What better allegory for steadfastness of faith in times of trial and tribulation exists? He's going to start working on the Jags as soon as he fixes the Middle East.
Quote:I hear God is a Jags fan. What better allegory for steadfastness of faith in times of trial and tribulation exists? Ha! Explaining to the church that we are changing service times so I can go to jags games should go over well!
Quote:So the Jags are Job then? It makes sense that the last several years are the outcome of a cosmic bet. At the end of his trial, Job was immensely blessed. Is this the year of blessing for the jags?!
Quote:At the end of his trial, Job was immensely blessed. Is this the year of blessing for the jags?! Nah, he had to get a new wife first. :whistling: “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

Quote:Ha! Explaining to the church that we are changing service times so I can go to jags games should go over well! When I grew up in Pittsbugh during the 70's, the Priest used to have the quickest sermons on Sunday morning during football season.
Quote:I'm boycotting the hotdogs!!! Yeah, I miss the belly buster hotdogs. Usually, the hotdogs are cold, but I buy them anyhow.......kind of a tradition. Quote:I agree........which is why I'm holding on to 2 tickets........Look, after 20 years and some $ 80,000 of my hard earned money, my sitting in searing heat and humidity, through rain and freezing cold, I don't think I owe anybody an explanation . It's time that the team started rewarding loyal fans like me with results on the field. Anyone who has been committed to the team from the start, and has invested the kind of money into tickets that many of us have over the decades require no explanations for anything they do. This is the core group that has been the foundation for this fan base from the start. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
Quote:With the abundance of Fire Gus threads. The clear disappointment that Khan didn't fire him. The team going nowhere and heading in the wrong direction opinions. I'm exactly the opposite, currently living in Minneapolis (originally from Jacksonville). I plan on quitting my incredibly comfortable but blood sucking corporate job, moving to Jacksonville Beach part time, for the sole reason of becoming a season ticket holder. I want to support this team in any shape/form/fashion I can. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:I'm glad you find that funny. I read everything you said on this thread, and I stand by what I said. Some of the most judgmental people on this board when it comes to season tickets and how people choose to spend their time and money are not even season ticket holders. It's easy to look from a distance and say what you would do when you don't actually have to make that choice.
Quote:I'm glad you find that funny. To be honest, based on how judgmental you have been in this thread, I just assumed you were a season ticket holder. Quote:I didn't renew this last season for a couple of personal reasons, but I'm sure not enticed to renew for next season.I can understand the lack of enticement to renew after so many losing seasons. I mean, at the end of the day, we are all consumers. We all decide to buy or not buy any number of goods and services for any number of reasons. We all value different things and those values shape our decisions. I value winning a great deal. There are few things more rewarding than being in the stadium as the team is pulling out a win over a hated foe. I also value seeing great players, whether they are on my team or not. But I think one of the things that keeps me going, besides intense loyalty to my team and circumstances that make it possible to remain a STH, is the realization that the guarantee of victory or the guarantee of a certain number of victories per year, is absent from the season ticket holder agreement. The New England dynasties, the Steeler dynasties, etc., are the exception, not the norm, and even they have down years. Their down years are coming. They are inevitable. More often than not, the NFL experience is that teams go through highs and lows. As expressed earlier, I see the highs for this team just over the horizon. That wasn't always the case...certainly not under Gene Smith. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
Quote:I can understand the lack of enticement to renew after so many losing seasons. I agree with everything you said, I just wish we had more highs in recent years than we've had. Pools, good parking, concerts, concessions, all that is phenomenal....but I go for football. I rarely say fans deserve anything, but Jaguar fans deserve a winning team. Some of the most judgmental people on this board when it comes to season tickets and how people choose to spend their time and money are not even season ticket holders.Fair enough. I can understand where you're coming from. When I lived there I had them and only quite buying due to relocating. So I guess it is easy to "look from a distance" and say what I'd do. If I ever get a chance to get back to Jacksonville, it would certainly be high on my to do list. I miss the atmosphere. Quote:To be honest, based on how judgmental you have been in this thread, I just assumed you were a season ticket holder. . I reread my posts. The first couple were snide, I admit. I took the original poster as whining and seeing if any one else was on board with not renewing due to Gus being retained. The only judgment I made was if one cancelled for those reasons then they are probably more of a casual fan. I assume that active posters on this board are more than casual fans. I can certainly understand if health, work, finances, or social aspects in ones life forces them to not renew. If that is overly judgmental then we'll just have to agree to disagree. Not trying to rub any one the wrong way here. It's just my opinion. And we all know what they say about those.

Not trying to rub any one the wrong way here. It's just my opinion. And we all know what they say about those. For the record, I am not cancelling my season tickets because Gus was retained nor due to financial reasons. Actually, none of the reasons you named in health, work, finances, or social aspects made my decision for me. The sheer fact that I would spend an entire Sunday (tailgate, game, recovery, hangover) and come home feeling like I just paid someone to kick me in the junk is the main driving factor of not renewing. It just hasn't been fun for me. If you look up "Entertainment" in the dictionary, it will say "the action of providing or being provided with amusement or enjoyment". The feeling the Jaguars give me does not fit that definition. Another factor was watching my friends scalp tickets in my section for $10 bucks while I was paying full face which made me realize, wow, I can do that too. While this could be looked at as a financial reason, I consider it more of a common sense and principal reason. I used to be in the mindset that we were lucky to have an NFL team here and felt it was my duty to purchase season tickets as long as I was financially able to, and the fact that the game would possibly be blacked out if I didn't go. Those days are gone. There will be plenty of tickets available when we become above average again, and I will rejoin at that point.
Welp. Curiosity satisfied. The Fire Gus, or else threads are just hot air.
Frustrating as its been, it's good to see most support the city and the team and not individuals.

Out-of-town two-year season ticket-holder here and I will be a STH again next season.
