There are rumors that Coughlin will interview for the Philadelphia job.

That will be interesting if it happens. So far no interview with the Eagles has been scheduled.

dolphins hire gase, per schefter

Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

The first new HC of the year is . . . Adam Gase to Miami. Let's see how good a fit he is with the Dolphins in his first HC job.

Adam Gase's replacement in Chicago will be QB coach Dowell Loggains. Apparently the Bears had already planned for this knowing Gase would get a HC job.

It looks like the Giants were worried about losing Ben McAdoo. Ian Rapoport tweeted this:

The #Eagles had strong interest in Ben McAdoo. That likely pushed the #Giants to close the deal with their offensive coordinator

Apparently the Giants just wanted to get rid of Coughlin. McAdoo is the HC and supposedly Spags is going to stay on as DC.

Tom Coughlin "stepped down" after meeting with the owners. If they just wanted to get rid of him, he would have been fired.

It will be interesting to see if the 49ers want Coughlin. They have a few other favorites.

I'm guessing you don't know what happened in that meeting.

Nobody knows exactly what happened without being there, of course. But I do know "stepped down" and "fired" don't mean the same thing.

The Ed Reed hire surprised me a little bit. I had no idea he was interested in being an assistant coach.

IMO 49ers and Coughlin would be a very good fit for both.

Just a few years left, and a team that could turn around quickly.
