Babich on his way out Black Monday?

One thing I hate about coming off another bad season......fans arguing with each other.

To paraphrase Jack Nicholson as the Joker in the first Batman movie...

This team needs an enema.

I don't think there's any way Babich can keep his job. Either Gus should take control of the defense or hire someone competent. Defense was so bad, it needs to be overhauled.

I'm afraid they'll think the main problem was talent (and to a certain extent it really is) and will just focus on improving the roster but keeping the staff.

While it's true we need playmakers at every level on the defense the staff, playcalling and game preparation was atrocious, players unprepared, unsure on how to line up, who to cover...it wwas that bad and the staff has to be held accountable as well as improving the roster.

DiRocco said that in his article yesterday afternoon. I sure hope he's wrong, though.

Quote:Yeah Babich sucks, but what DC worth a damn would come to a team with a lame-duck HC anyway? The only change I see happening is maybe Gus taking over defensive play-calling or something along those lines.

This. Even if Babich is fired, no one competent is going to want to be here on a one-year deal. I think last year there was probably pressure from above for Gus to make changes to the offensive coaching staff. Heading into a potentially lame duck season, I doubt there's much pressure from above for Gus to fire anyone this year.

Next year is Gus' do or die season. If I'm Caldwell, I let Gus make the decision himself, giving him enough of the proverbial rope.

“It just shows what kind of team we are. We’re a tough team. We like contact. We’re very physical. We want the issue to be brought to us so we can show people we can stand up to it and overcome it. Seeing that’s just a symbol of our team and who we are.” - Jaguars DT Malik Jackson

I think there are plenty of good DCs who would like to come to a team with an undeniably ascending offense and a ton of cap room.

So,in the last 30 years, Babich is the only bad coach in NDSU history.

How in the heck did this guy become an NFL DC??

With the 2nd pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars select Cam Robinson - Offensive Tackle - Alabama

(i'm counting on the Eagles tanking like the Sixers)

This statement is perfect - in what drives me crazy about fans. How dare "they" think the main problem was talent. We all know that can't be it!

"Playcalling and game praperation were atrocious." LOL - like you have a clue what the playcalling and game preparation was. I'm sure you've had many positions with an NFL team, but one thing you failed to learn is that the best teams tends to have the best players.

Sacrifice Babich (Barabas?) if they must. Funny how the offense improved with a good QB and receivers. Perhaps that will occur with the addition of new players on defense. It won't be playcalling and game preparation.

The sun's not yellow, it's chicken.

Which leaves the fan base sitting here w/ a sort of numb feeling after watching the trainwreck that was the end of the season, followed by a whole lot of "Status Quo" plans for next year.

I'm sure that's going to show up on ticket sales.

Gotta at least PRETEND like you're doing something to fix it, guys!
