Alright, Bradley deserves some props for this one (MERGED)

I loved that they kept their foot on their throat and didn't let up. They ran to run the clock but still passed to pick up first downs. They stayed mostly aggressive which I was actually surprised by. A lot of coaches would out on the brakes.

It feels amazing to decisively put the division champ down.  This wasn't just an opponent  ; )

We played well in the second half therefore must have remembered to make those halftime adjustments people bring up...

The other Gus thread has those who want him gone, like myself, have been saying that he called a good game.  Then again the apologist say he's not at all responsible for any of the 8 losses

It also proves we can be dominant. No more excuses now. We didn't beat a 2-8 team we beat the Colts, granted without what's his name, but I believe we would have still won that game today.

Quote:I hope that sundae tastes like lollipops, gumdrops and rainbows, because he's earned it today. This was easily his best coaching job to date. I still don't think he's the guy to lead this team to the promised land, but he's probably already secured his job for next year, for better or worse. It's things like the play to line Bortles up and buy time that show that the man is actually capable of doing this, but might be a slow learner.

The decision to leave Bortles in around the goal line when it was 44-16 concerns me, though. Running Bortles around end then sending him over the top is a great way to get your franchise QB killed, especially given that the Colts HAD to be [BAD WORD REMOVED] about having the score run up on them. That was a decision made on emotion, and you can't do that as a coach. 44-16 with a broken Bortles would feel very different.
The fans demanded it.  We were cheering "We want 50".  We deserved this today for all the crap we have endured for the past 7 years or so.  I had no issue with it at all.  For that matter, the team deserved a win like this as well.

I think the adjustment was him going in and putting a boot up their can.  You didn't see much of the game plan in the first half because they were executing so poorly.  I do believe in coaching and it seems that he let them have it coming out in the second half.  I'm giving him credit because I have been harsh this year.  I'm not convinced yet but hey I really want the whole team to prove me wrong.

Hi, my name is TJ. I want Gus gone. I don't think he's the answer for this franchise. In fact, I think he'll end up being, at best, another Del Rio who strings the team along to perennial mediocrity.

That said, this was easily the best game he's ever coached. Some of his decisions, like diving Bortles over the goal line when up by 28 points, were iffy, but the fourth-down play where he lined Bortles up to try for an offsides play and buy a few seconds was sheer brilliance.

You know what that reminds me of?  Something out of a Roman Colosseum!  The fans were looking for blood, and Gus gave the sign to go for the kill.

Are you not entertained?????   LOL, classic stuff!

That killer instinct is what has helped Belicheck, Brady and the pats destroy for over a decade. Its what I want to see more from the Jags.

Quote:...On the Hurns pass for a first down...which was called short of the first...Gus let the offense go out and try to draw the Clots offsides. If that succeeds, there is no need to risk a challenge. It didn't, he challenged and won the challenge. Even to most serious Gus hater has got to concede that was a nice job of head coaching. Also, nice adjustment at the half. Really nice. If Gus's job was at risk, he saved it today, I suspect.

I really liked how he let that play out.   Really smart call.  It also burned off clock as well

It's tough to know how to allocate responsibility exactly, but I definitely think with just a tad better execution on just a few plays, and four of those losses are wins.

This is the only reason I see to keep him. The game was great, but you can't call this our direction off of one anomaly.

True.  It was a really good game.  Hopefully he's turned the corner, as has the defense.  We'll see.
