Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

1) He was flat out wrong to claim that Caldwell has built the offense at the expense of the defense. In free agency this year he signed 3 defenders vs. two on offense. He also drafted for defense in the 1st, 3rd, and 4th rounds in this year's draft.


 

2) The defense has been predictable.


 

3) There is NO excuse for going 0-3 these last three weeks. The three teams we just played were A) a reeling Colts team with an OL in shambles starting a 40-year old backup who was in the hospital the previous and following days with a serious infection, B) A rookie QB who just threw four INTs the previous week and who's best offensive lineman was out, and C) a team that was still debating which QB to start between two guys who each had melted down earlier this season.


 

4) Watch the three plays starting at 6:15 in the 3rd quarter of Sunday's game. Then tell me why Gus Bradley is still the coach.


 

The rebuild is progressing well. Bradley hasn't. He's still making the same pathetic mistakes he made in 2013.

 

I really think this last sentence is the real reason that most fans have stopped believing in Gus Bradley as the Jags HC.

 

From the time Gus got here until now, the team has gotten better player/talent wise, but Gus seems to be the same rookie bad HC he was when he got here and it appears that he just continues to get out-coached and out schemed even by bottom feeder teams, teams missing their #1 QB and teams with rookie turn-over prone QBs.

 

I just think most people who have turned on Gus just believe that a better HC would have been able to find a win or 2 in there with this exact same team.

 

That's the most frustrating part of all of this to me.

Not sure why Gus alway's seem's to get a free pass.. Even as Seattle's D coordinator he failed to make good adjustments... When Quinn took over it was night and day how much better our defense got... Gus should be on the hot seat...

 

Camron Medland-Young ... UM not true... Seattle's D got substantially better when Bradley left... Under Quinn our D was #1 in the leauge hands down and had one of the best statistical years ever .. Under Bradley Seattle's D did kinda what they've been doing lately, giving up games right at the end... Quinn had Seattle's D #1 in the league for 2 straight years, and they closed out games, other than last years Super-Bowl, but injuries were a huge factor in that one...

I'd like to also add that as this season has progressed, I no longer see Gus as a place holder for the next coach anymore.


With the benching of house and the comments of that TE, it's my opinion that Bradley is actually negatively impacting this team.


I think cutting out the instigator and perpetuator of our losing philosophy as soon as possible is the correct approach the front office should take.

I really hope this gets turned around and I also really hope some way, some how who we have now can make it work. I think another regime change, another O-coordinator will hurt this budding offense. That's the hope.

 

The reality is that there are mistakes being made that are hard to ignore. Have we ever won a challenge, ever? That's the kind of things that are infuriating to fans. The defense stinks, but there's reason for that, no rush at all which hurts the entire secondary and has a snowball effect with the entire team. I think with a couple of changes there we can be an OK defense, but the mistakes outside of talent are what's hard to swallow.

Jeff Darlington is actually a pretty good writer. I believe he writes for the Dolphins primarily, but he's a UF graduate so he's definitely not as "outsider" as some other NFL writers. He's a good twitter follow too.

The articles answers the first question. It ignores the second. At best it gives a lame excuse why the offense should be ahead of the defense, but that doesn't excuse a total defensive collapse.


 

And the failure is not that the team is 1-5. The failure is that the team is 0-3 in its last three games against garbage opponents.
