I don't recall disliking a president in 6th grade. Heck, George Sr. Was so impressed with my physical fitness, he signed a certificate for me. So true. I went to Boy's State as a yute. At the time, I was not a fan of Douglas Wilder. He spoke at one of our events, and it was one of the best political speeches I've ever heard... but only because I was willing to listen. I became a fan of Douglas Wilder, even though I did not agree with 100% of his politics. No one will ever have a representative they agree with 100%. Do not assume others agree with politicians they do not "hate" 100% either, it's not a binary function. It's not healthy to only love or only hate everything about a politician.

Quote:Exactly !! Kids today (at least in the Ponte Vedra school system) start having political debates in 6th grade. At 1st they may simply be reiterating what they hear at home, however, by 8th grade a lot of kids take on their own identity and think for themselves as it relates to a lot of topics ... including politics. We had political debates in 2nd grade. In fact I got to be Ross Perrot.
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Nice. A bunch of snot nosed brats who have never voted, worked, nor paid a dime of taxes in their life debating politics. I bet that is a sight not to miss. Put me in the camp of my kids being introduced to Mr. FICA on their first paycheck when they are 15 or 16 to start developing real political opinions. Quote:Easy Ringo.. Don't hurt yourself.. This country needs kids with balls, and it takes balls to stand up for your principles and walk out on a photo op with the man who's third in line for the Presidency (and may still find his way into that job before all is said and done).

In these days of social media and 24/7 news coverage, why is anyone surprised an 8th grader is more sophisticated politically than when we were kids. Good for these kids, not wanting to be in a picture with a sackless piece of [BAD WORD REMOVED].
If something can corrupt you, you're corrupted already.
