Extend Cam after using a 2nd rounder on him.
3rd rounder on Fortner
A ton of money on Scherff
Trade for Cleveland
1st rounder on Anton
2nd rounder on Little.

With that said, if they replace Fortner, the OLine automatically gets better. Everyone has to pick up his slack.

It all comes back to Baalke.

Fortner absolutley has to go. I also think we need to draft someone to groom as sherffs replacement in the middle rounds. I truly believe the line will take a massive step forward if we just fix the center problem.

Fortner was the weakest link and worst player on the team last year and once again he is the weakest leak and has even looked worse this year.  I honestly would be good if they cut him.  If he magically improved on his next team good for him.  You can get his level of play from a UDFA.  The Remington award winner/ Powers Johnson was the highest rated center in run and pass blocking.  The highest rated in both, did it as a junior, and was his first year as a center.  He can play G as well so he would be versatile on the interior.  He would look damn good in black and teal and might be there when we pick.  Have to take a hard look at him this year

I wonder if the guards are struggling so much because of Fortner. It's wild to watch that guy whiff over and over again.

Most shocking part of that article isn't OT related...

Cisco earned grades above 76 in three of the first four games of the season. He hasn’t had a day above 72 since Week 4, though.

Best S in the league, hope we can re-sign him to a major contract.

Not really, he hasn't been the same since he got hurt.  Neither has Hamilton and neither has Campbell.   They were 3 of our best players on D and all have been injured and none of them has been the same since

That is an old video -  and Rauscher was not even on the staff here when Fortner was drafted.

The only guy on this roster tied in any way to Rauscher is Ezra Cleveland.

All I know is that if we don't draft/sign 3 interior line starters I'm gonna riot.

You want your oline coach on the staff before you go and sign and draft olineman. They didnt do it backwards

Agreed

2/3 of those guys better be upgraded at the very least and there is no scenario in which I'd be OK with Fortner being penciled in as anything more than depth to be developed.

Jury is still out on whether Ezra Clevelend is worth an offer, and Scherff is likely gone due to cap, but he at least has pass protected well compared to the others. (worthless in the run game unless he's pulling outside)

My bad- I thought this was Rauscher's first season.

Makes me like him less. Whether he liked the Fortner pick or not.

He was also over the moon about Anton Harrison and that looks like it is working out. He's not supposed to be a scout at the end of the day and his vote shouldn't carry much weight in the draft day war room.

I'd like to see Doug start fresh with his run scheme.
At least 3 new OL players who can move people + a scheme and line coach that implements more power and less ZBS.

Not to mention if you watch the video the first question she asked is how often did the question come up we have to get Trevor some protection, and he said it came up.

In what world are you seeing the NFL draft in June? More of your imagination playing around on you.

Oh, naw, Rauscher was here for last years draft as well.  Im sure he was, the first pick is for his oline.  Im sure Doug, Phil, and Trent all got together on that one.  Hopefully Harrison ends up better than Dawand Jones who went in the 3rd and who has been a beast for Cleveland and who i wanted.  They both should be on this team honestly but thats another conversation.  I want to see a power scheme as well and that would be huge for this whole offense.  Fuaga was the best run bloker in college and Powers Johnson was the best run blocking center and we could maybe add both and that would be amazing but I highly doubt we draft either because we will go for the better athlets over the better players

The point was Rauscher was hired before the draft

The month or order of hire between coaches and draft picks was never a question.

I simply forgot he was added in 2022. I thought 2023 was Rauscher's first year because it felt like we had that Warhop clown forever.

My bad memory aside -

Trying to pin a bad draft pick on a position coach his a huge stretch, LOL.
I'm fine with moving on from Rauscher - but I'm not gonna act like I "know" he's somehow at fault for picking a bad center.
