Ode to "Let's talk about"

Quote:This woman that sits next to me loves to use the word 'literally'...and 9 times out of 10 she uses it out of context. The overuse of literally and actually makes me want to punch a kitten. Not literally of course!
What in the Wide Wide World of Sports is agoin' on here???

Where I'm from, people overuse the word 'random' or 'randomly'... and out of context too.
I was speaking to a colleague about something that I had just completed at work and she replied 'oh, how random'.. Er... not really, it is my job.. ![]() 80% of what I talk about is nonesense.. the other 25% is made up statistics... Quote:The overuse of literally and actually makes me want to punch a kitten. It's beginning to make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. This seems to be something new. I never recall her doing this...to this extent...before the last month or so. It's really annoying, or as she might say, 'It's literally annoying.' ![]()
Ugh. Both of my daughters have recently gotten in the habit of constantly using that word. It's to the point where I mock them in an attempt to squelch it.
Poor figuratively, literally no one like, likes you.

Young adulthood when it seems like everything you taught them goes out the window, not looking forward to that stage

I'll be stitches-free and bandage-free for the first time in 3 weeks by 11:30. Woo-hoo!!
This one on my face is itching like hell though with the stubble growing through it. It's driving me bonkers. It's like some new form of torture. ![]()
So let's complain about work.
I love it when somebody insists they've told you they told you something, yet have nothing to back up the fact. I have to rewrite some already complex (and pretty slick) code because this clown insists he told me something, yet can't 'find' the email where he supposedly told me. I'll pause there...I'm a tad perturbed. ![]()
I just love it when people talk over you on conference calls. I'm convinced it's because they know that I'm about to provide reasons for them to actually have to work.
I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.
Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!
I have one of my bowling nights tonight.
I hear rumors they still sell beer. ![]() We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Ludicrous. You need to go and check to make sure they aren't doing anything so irresponsible.

Well we had some excitement this morning. I live in a somewhat upscale neighborhood. But back in my corner of the development, it is completely rural in back of me and across the retention pond. Seems the good ole boys that live in the single-wide across the retention pond caught the woods on fire. We were the ones that had to call the fire department. It was still blazing (and spreading) when I left for work.

Quote:My day off do I get housework done or just sit around and be lazy.... I had this predicament yesterday. I thought I could be lazy and let it pile up, then have to be even more hard working another day, or I could be constructive... So I decided on having a lie in, before heading to my local town for some important supplies (a new vape flavour), then returned home to watch 2 back to back College Football games which I had recorded on BT Sport/ESPN whilst doing some ironing, followed by some polishing and hoovering... so this was a reasonably successful day. I also found out that we now have a Five Guys about 6 miles from me which excites me, previously my local one was in Reading or London... both being 60+ miles away... not that far, but too far for a burger. ![]() 80% of what I talk about is nonesense.. the other 25% is made up statistics... It was still blazing (and spreading) when I left for work. You know, while my wife and I were watching the fire burn we were hearing popping that sounded a lot like gunfire. We were thinking that maybe it was the pine trees popping. But now that I see this, I will bet you it was this guy's ammo cache. We hear all kinds of activity back there during the week. ![]()
Man, I do miss those Florida Rednecks sometimes...
