but joeckel is going to get his shot and i have really high hopes he will be very good this year.

True he may not. Colts would make a lot of sense. Maybe even Seattle.

Collins shot himself in the foot bigtime. Wanted money and instead cost himself 6-7 figures. No 2016 draft.

Do we really want to sign someone this stupid?

Can't wait to see whats next.

No it was a smart move by his agent, 1-3 round money is good, 4-7 round money is not as good as what he can get as an undrafted FA with a creative contract, he can get more bonus money plus less years to cash out if he does good.

I dont understand people who blast this kid on here and on other sites, if it comes out that he's guilty then it will take care of it self and he gets nothing a goes to jail. But if he is not guilty then thats terrible all around for somebody whole life to get screwed over because of a murder you have nothing to do with. He wouldnt have done anything wrong and his agent is doing the most to maximize his value.

He could possibly start at LG here over Beadles and Cann and likely start at one of the tackle spots next year if Joeckel or Purnell fizzle out.

Doesn't matter.  Collins would be an awesome addition as an UDFA to anyone.

Well that wasn't the point. We were saying he probably wouldn't want to come here because there are likely better fits with some other teams.

I'd love to have him but don't think its gonna happen.

It won't happen but this O-Line would be nasty:

LT - Joeckel, Collins

LG - Beadles, Cann

C - Wiz, Bowanko

RG - Linder, Pasztor

RT - Parnell, Williams

Things are definitely looking up for our OL if a top prospect probably wouldn't start. What a change from the slop we started last season with.

I personally think that it is a long shot that Collins would sign with Jacksonville.  Hopefully the coaching staff and front office made quite an impression and developed some nice relationships with the young man during their time together in Mobile.  The staff probably did not believe that they had a shot at him since he was the consensus highest rated OL at the senior bowl.

From a football point of view, this guy is a top notch prospect.  He does not posses the elite feet of a top notch LT prospect, but he has all of the traits that you would look for in an OL prospect.  The kid started for four years in the SEC .  He is durable, strong at the point of attack and plays with a significant mean streak really enjoying the physical aspects of the game.

Make no mistake if this man is innocent of this heinous crime, he will be a huge upgrade to the talent level on some teams' OL unit.  He is a very talented player who will be a value for his talent level for the beginning of his career.

Respect the game.  Play with a sense of urgency.

1.)  Take care of the ball.  Win the turnover battle.

2.)  It's all about 3rd down.  Win on 3rd down to win the game.

3.) Playmakers make plays.  The only reason that you put your uniform on is to make plays. In order to EARN your paycheck, you must make plays.

Learn from the great collapse of 2023.

I'm trying to read in to it, and sounds like the attorney is being defensive. "I'm not going to have any comments. The investigation is going to continue"

"We answered every question...we didn't claim the 5th amendment". If you were not guilty of anything, why would you even have the option of the 5th amendment, to protect against self incrimination?

I was curious if he would be implicated some how, and if the Jags were an option for him. I would steer clear until all the facts are out, and not only a suspect is named, but Collins is not somehow connected in any way.

Taking the Fifth is not an admission of guilt or (legally) an indication that you're hiding something. Anyone has it available to them at any time, and it (legally) can't be held against them by police or courts.

and in murder investigations, it's always best to plead the 5th until you have an attorney present.  Remember that, kids.

I see Collins as likely a swing tackle for the Jags, backing up LT and RT on game day.  However, I think he would be a good challenge for the starting jobs of either Joeckel or Purnell.  He is far better than Pasztor, Williams, or Wells in a backup or swing role.  Do it.  There is little risk at this point.

The thing that confuses me is why he took so long to talk to the cops. He had to have known the consequences. With millions of dollars at stake, you can bet your fanny I would've been on the first plane to N.O., taking the first cab to the police station, and answering all their questions. My lawyer would have been on Skype if I needed him. Something just doesn't sit right.

I believe left the draft last Tuesday to try and clear things up in LA, but the police weren't ready to talk to him until today.

Because he hasn't been completely ruled out. Teams are reluctant to do anything until BRPD clears him of any wrong doing.

Yeah I don't think he's out of the woods just yet.  I don't think the police would publicly name someone a suspect until they've identfied motive and opportunity.  If the paternity test ends up showing he's the father he's going to be answering a lot more questions.

Did they name him a suspect?  As far as I know, they've never publicly said that.  Not saying he isn't one, but they obviously don't have enough evidence to say that yet.
