Bortles should be starting.

Pass protection wasn't terrible so I don't want to hear the Oline excuse anymore. It is the reason for not being able to run the ball but so is the fact that there are still 8 man boxes with a Henne under center.

 

Bortles can create. Bortles allows Fisch to access different plays in his book. Bortles can't catch passes that are dropped. He can't play defense. There were second half problems on both sides of the ball, punctuated with some injuries (Toby, Poz, Cyp, Evans)

Bortles may or may not have made that much of a difference. But if these are the results we are to expect as a fan base this season; Bortles should play. He isn't going to get broken or shell shocked. He'll avoid a rush, move the pocket, step up, push the ball down field.

Chad Henne had 43 pass attempts, and that was with a massive lead for half of the game.  That's a ridiculous number, for Henne or Bortles.

 

Well what do you expect? The running game is absolutely atrocious. I wasn't thrilled with the signing of Gerhart to begin with, especially with this horrible O-line.

Yeah it was lack of execution on the players part.  Henne got out of rhythm a little.  Of course the receivers didn't help any.  It's not like we were going RUN RUN PASS PUNT.  The run game wasn't working, so we leaned more on the pass.  Unfortunately a combination of Henne and his receivers couldn't get the job done.

13% of 3rd downs converted.  That's simply not acceptable.  And certainly not Gus's fault.

I don't think Bradley missed a 50 yard FG or allowed another to be blocked either

I have a big problem with something Gus did that really, really hurt.  No, it wasn't going for it on 4th. That was the right call IMO.

It was right before the Sproles run.  The defense was all out of sorts, it was 4th down - why didnt we call a timeout?  I really hope its because we didnt have any.  There is no excuse for the head coach to not call a timeout there.

 

Other than that, the big problem was the OL.  Just awful run blocking, which is why Chad was put into 2nd and 3rd and long situations he will never succeed in.  Pass blocking was not bad.

 

Not worried about the D.  In fact, quite optimistic.  2 TDs were on mental errors (Sproles/Maclin).

For those who react "emotionally" to just about everything in their lives, it's understandable to assume this game was blown by Bradlley. However, that's simply not true. The first half ended up with the Jags walking in at halftime with a 17-0 lead based solely on their ability to capitalize on Philly's turnovers. Great 1st half for the Jags. Along with supreme pass protection for Henne the Jags were able to take advantage of the Eagles big mistakes. However, the OL was NOT opening holes for their running game (Gerhart) and he was having to "earn" every yard he got. This game is not on Gerhart for his less than stellar numbers. Philly was daring Henne to do in the 2nd half what he got away with in the 1st. You can't win football games when your offense is 2-14 on 3rd down conversions. Some of this MUST fall squarely on Chad Henne and his leadership abilities. But, let's face it............Tom Brady he is not!

 

The Jags could never get the momentum back that they had in the 1st half and Philly took full advantage of that. Yes, they lost a game they could have "clearly" won but we need to find a way to take away from this game and build. I thought the defense was better than most would have guessed until they look to be gassed there towards the end and a couple of coverages were undoubtedly blown but overall.............there are good things to take away from the game for them as a unit. The offense, well............if the OL does NOT find a way to push some people off the ball on run plays..........it's gonna be a long season for Henne and a long one for Toby Gerhart too. Adrian Peterson with decent holes opened up aint gonna do much damage either. And Gerhart..........aint Adrian. Henne was off the mark in the 2nd half and alot of the time..............WAY OFF. So that, must be worked on as well. But, it's not a time to panic as who thought they were going 16-0 anyways? It just sucks to see a game slip away that should have been won. And, for this reason alone............the Bortles calls will be flying high this coming week. On the other hand, it too is somewhat justified. Let's just see how Chad Henne bounces back from adversity that was as much self inflicted as it was Philly's tough defense. 

So, one guy is at fault. One coach made adjustments at the half. One didnt. The pass game worked because the Eagles were loading up for the run. They adjusted at the 2nd half. Henne had a better than average ( for him, and against a good team at home) first half. The second flopped. Rookie receivers, bad routes, a TE that cant get separation and squad of matadors protecting and opening holes ( for the pass rush that is).

The team and their coaches lost this. Two bone headed huge long TD plays...especially the one where Sporles converted 4th and 1 into a long TD run while the D and coaches were sipping gatorade started the collapse.

On that one, he or someone on the sideline should have timed out. The line was gassed and Kelly took advantage of it. There are experienced players on the D....Someone stop the clock. They may have converted, but no way get a long TD run

Bradley said in his presser that he should have called timeout there - if I heard him correctly.  I couldn't hear the question well - but I think this was what he was referring to. 

 

The defense was definitely not in position yet when the ball was snapped. A T.O. would have been smart by Bradley there. 

It was with 3:30 to go in the 3rd quarter. We had all 3 time outs.  This play is perfectly fine for Bradley to share some blame on. For sure. 

 

However, after just watching it again  --   Guy, Evans and Hayes all could share some blame. The safeties were lost and both overpersued forward with no sight of the hand-off and Geno  inexplicably jumped into a O- lineman that was already engaged with a DT. A step to his right and he's in position to tackle or at least slow down Sproles.
