3. Read-Option based Offense,, with the addition of a true OW that can be WR, RB, and a dangerous Return man


At the top of the NFL.


Personally, I never was a big fan of theirs. But, it's awesome to see their "Smash Mouth" brand of football is still a formula to great success.

<div style="font-size:14px;">Okay, now it is time for me to make my Super Bowl pick. I will try to make this as brief as possible. Please share if you like it.


There is only one thing you need to understand about this football game: it is a battle of philosophy. On<span>e team would make Pantera quite proud with their relentless, vulgar display of power. The other is a fantasy football team. Although the NFL is always trending to a more aerial game of finesse, football is still a game of brute force that is won in the trenches. I can show you all the metrics and advanced analysis that points to a narrow Seattle victory and how these teams are trending, but this is the Super Bowl. This is where it is all laid on the line. This is where the rubber meets the road and the blood of roadkill is splattered all over the asphalt. That is why small weaknesses become greatly magnified.


As much as ESPN would like the narrative to be all about Peyton Manning's potentially lost legacy (despite his FIVE league Most Valuable Player awards), that has very little to do with what happens on the field. John Elway knows this. His team was 131/2 point underdogs at kickoff against Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl XXXII. Despite the two week long Brett Favre love fest, Terrell Davis rushed for 157 yards and 3 TD's to become Super Bowl MVP. Broncos 31 Packers 24. Which begs the question: Who in their right mind would bet against John Elway with a 2000 yard rusher in the backfield?


This Super Bowl also has a lot of similarities to that one but more with Super Bowl XXV. Jim Kelly had the most impressive offense anyone had ever seen and his team was big favorites against those New York Giants. On paper, the Giants didn't have a prayer, but power running and a great defense kept the Bills off the field. That Bills team got to the Super Bowl by spreading the field out with tons of talented receivers, finding a mismatch and exploiting it over and over again. But what happens when you line up and there is no mismatch? In sequential years, we found out that the Bills were a soft team, and all the vaunted “Super Bowl Experience” didn't matter for [BLEEP] when they played the Dallas Cowboys in back to back years, losing by a combined score of 82-30. The middle linebacker on those Cowboys teams was Ken Norton Jr..


Let me tell you a little about Ken Norton Jr. Ken Norton Jr. is the son of Ken Norton Sr. the man who broke the jaw of Muhammad Ali in the photo above, knocking him out to become World Champion. You may have heard Richard Sherman recite the mantra about being built for a heavyweight fight. Guess where he gets this. Norton was a three time pro bowl selection, and twice an all-pro selection. He has three Super Bowl rings with the Dallas Doomsday defense. The NFL is now littered with linebackers he coached along with Pete Carroll at USC. Lofa Tatupu was one of those linebackers. So was Clay Mathews. As L.L. Cool J would say, Mama said knock you out.


This is going to be one of those Super Bowls where people say, “How did I not see this coming?” This defense is historically good for Seattle, drawing comparisons to the 1985 Bears, 2000 Ravens, and 1976 Stealers. They are that good. This is the best secondary Carroll has ever coached, and he has coached Troy Polamalu and Ronnie Lott. When this game is over, Eric Decker is going to be remembered the same way that Don Beebe is. If you believe ESPN this past week, Knowshon Moreno is a better power runner than Adrian Petersen, but does anyone seriously think that the Broncos can bully this team? If the San Franciso 49er's couldn't do it, it can't be done. This is what is essential.


This Denver Broncos team is the best team in the AFC. But that is like winning a Gold Medal in the Special Olympics: You're still [BLEEP] [BLEEP].


The Broncos defense is not even average and they enter the game missing 10 of their 41 sacks to injured reserve. Terrence Knighton isn't half as good as the guy that Max Unger goes against every day in practice, Brandon Mebane. Without Von Miller, they have no one to spy Russell Wilson, and now we have a deep threat in Percy Harvin. God help them. Ever since the end of November, the Seahawks 

have been facing the elite defenses of the NFL, including the #4 Saints and the #2 49ers TWICE APIECE.


Now consider this. The Seahawks had the best special teams in the league by almost every metric BEFORE adding Percy Harvin. The Broncos special teams are only pedestrian, and their kicking game is greatly aided by home games in mile high air.


I would liken this Super Bowl to when my Tacoma home boy Sugar Ray Seales went into the ring against Marvin Haggler. Seales was fresh off of his Gold Medal winning performance in the 1972 Olympics. But Marvin Haggler didn't care about that. Sugar Ray Seales is now legally blind. Marvin Haggler detached both of his retinas.


He never saw it coming.

I wonder sometimes if players don't realize how lucky they are to be drafted into a good situation, then they would have been to be drafted by a much worse team who passed on them when it was their pick, earlier in the draft.

I picked Seattle to win the Super Bowl and nothing last night changed that.  They are as good as it gets from top to bottom, you won't find any better right now.  Percy Harvin is special when he's on the field and they won without him last year.  Add him to that offense and boy, you will have a hard time stopping that.

Bradley will probably be interested, but I think a desperate team like Dallas will overpay him in free agency.
