Sanders on roster bubble?

Quote:I don't see Sanders on the bubble at all. I don't see Sanders getting released at all. I could see the small possibility of a trade if certain variables align. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:tomato/ tomahto Says the guy banging the table for Tandon Doss? ![]() ![]() ![]() Quote:I don't see Sanders getting released at all. What could we possibly get for Sanders that would make it worth our while?
Quote:Says the guy banging the table for Tandon Doss? I just think its foolish to write Doss off before we've seen one snap of what Sullivan can do with him. (if anything). Nice deflection. Quote:What could we possibly get for Sanders that would make it worth our while? Well, if the Jags do wind up trading Sanders, several things would be in play - 1. Lee/ Robinson healthy and really impressing early on. 2. Some sort of clear indication that Blackmon is on the right track and on the way back. 3. Shorts playing well and healthy. 4. Doss playing at a level that the coaches really start taking notice. 5. Some variation of Hurns/ Brown/ Copeland also playing well enough to get the coaches attention. 6. ...and Sanders himself, not playing better than the above competition. At that point, Sanders has little hold on his position going forward. Doss with the return ability negates Sanders value there, and Sanders value as a WR would have already been usurped. Sanders would probably be dealt at that point for a 4th or 5th, which given his rookie season production isn't much of a stretch, especially when you consider that Mike Thomas at a declining point of his Jags career still netted us a 5th rounder.
Quote:I mean anything is possible when a team finishes 2nd to last overall in the NFL (record) and remains one of the worst offenses for the last few years (especially in passing), so while I think we all feel Ace Sanders has tons of potential and will remain I can see why the media is guessing it. I wouldnt worry to much because Ace Sanders himself was talking about how he appreciates the competition. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Rivers McCown of Football Outsiders wrote an article on Sanders and how/why he was as effective as he was.
<p style="margin-left:40px;">"...Sanders has some rather unique route-running instincts, and his ability to line up just about anywhere gives him a little more versatility. Those traits define a football player that can be helpful for a while, if not exactly useful for a go-nowhere team like last year's Jaguars ..."
I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.
Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!
This Doss/Sanders flung dung has the same stench as the Dillard/Shorts nonsense.
He's made his asinine "bet" and now has pushed all his (bull) chips in.

Quote:You and your fantasy trade scenarios. The things great comedies are made of. I outlined up in post 84 what it would take. In that scenario, what is it that you would disagree with?
Quote:I outlined up in post 84 what it would take. You could probably do the exact same thing for almost any player in the NFL. Quote:I outlined up in post 84 what it would take. Sanders has done little to nothing to warrant a 4th or 5th rounder. Other than that, it's completely plausible. ![]() Never argue with idiots. Quote:Sanders has done little to nothing to warrant a 4th or 5th rounder. Other than that, it's completely plausible. Well, I would disagree with that. I used the Mike Thomas example as a comparison. He netted a 5th and was in decline as a player for us at the time. I can't see how Sanders wouldn't at least fetch a similar amount if not maybe a 4th rounder, given the numbers attained his rookie year. We show less advertisements to registered users. Quote:You could probably do the exact same thing for almost any player in the NFL. Well not really. Our WR situation is/ or would be dictating some of what I outlined there.
I would be surprised if they moved on from Sanders. He would be best suited for ST.
I wonder if Mallory is looking for more creativeness in the setup aspect going into the season.
Whether someone has a liberal, or conservative viewpoint, a authoritative figure should not lock a thread for the sole purpose to get the last word in all the while prohibiting someone else from being able to respond.
Quote:Well not really. You're talking about him being outplayed by UDFA's and a journeyman. Every team has those types of guys. Quote:Well, I would disagree with that.Yes, the Mike Thomas situation is exactly the same as Ace Sanders. Thomas had more than 1,700 yards receiving including an 800+ yard season in 2010. He had over 9 YPC average during that stretch. It also helped that he was traded to a team who happened to employ the guy who drafted him into the league in the first place with Shack Harris in Detroit. Sanders has 1 season under his belt, 51 receptions, and under 500 yards receiving. Yup. Exactly the same. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Quote:Yes, the Mike Thomas situation is exactly the same as Ace Sanders. The best point you make above is the Harris point. Sanders only having one season with that level of production isn't likely to be seen as a "detriment" for any team that would trade for him. Almost the opposite. A cheap 2nd year player with 2 more years on his deal. Which also ties in to a negative on Thomas above - The Jags had given Thomas a pay raise to that point, which by the time of the trade was clearly seen as an overpayment....and we still netted that 5th rounder... Quote:The best point you make above is the Harris point. It's not going to be an enticement to give up anything more than a 6th or 7th round pick either. That 5th rounder was a gift from Shack Harris. That won't be out there for any potential trades involving Sanders. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
LWR 84 Shorts, Cecil 11/4 11 Lee, Marqise 14/2 19 Thomas, Lamaar SF13 17 Bumphis, Chad SF13 13 Taylor, Kerry P/Arz
RWR 18 Sanders, Ace 13/4 80 Robinson, Allen 14/2 16 Robinson, Denard 13/5 12 Brown, Mike CF12 80 Doss, Tandon R/Bal If the above is true, at least until preseason it would seem the players most likely on the chopping block at WR is Mike Brown, Kerry Taylor, Tandon Doss and not Ace Sanders... |
