Did Johnny Manziel's Pro Day sway your draft choice?
|
Quote:I meant it in a sense of making him even better. Look at RG3, Luck, Wilson, etc. You have QB's that come in and perform well in year 1 but then in year 2 they gradually get better and so on. He can start right now it's just with the team in rebuild mode and with Henne's new contract; I feel he can sit a year. We can debate this every year come draft time but unless your rooting for us to either fail or trade a King's ranson to trade up in a future draft you have no idea about following a new college season, then pull the trigger when you can clearly see your target. It's always next year with our fans talking about a QB. We took Gabbert and then it was we should've waited and we still didn't have a high enough selection to pick the best QB. Before then and afterwards it's the same scenario so stop being QB fearful and pull the trigger on the kid with the tools. We hated Tebow because he didn't have the tools but had the will and the size and now we have a flip flop of talent with will but no size and it's the same fear. Im no english teacher so excuse the grammar if need be.Oh I'm not fearful at all about taking another QB. I want Bridgewater and would take him #3 overall. Clowney and Bridgewater are my first two choices. After those two, I'd have a decision to make between Watkins, trading down, Barr or Mack. We show less advertisements to registered users. If he was on A&M do you think he would have been in better games or made even greater combacks or wow plays than Manziel or is that just because he looked good against subpar players as i believe Johnny would have too.
Season Tix, Section 409
2023 and still counting.....SB will finally be ours soon enough. TLaw aka 'the prince that was promised' supporter. Quote:I agree with this. The only thing I fear is that we could miss out on the qb with the biggest "it" factor. From what I've seen, he's going to be one heck of an electric player. Those don't come around very often."it" doesn't win football games. Throwing the ball, reading a defense, making good decisions on when to step up and when to leave the pocket; these are the things that win games. The media and fan hype over this guy is eerily similar to that of over QB who was drafted 4 years ago.
When you get into the endzone, act like you've been there before.

For gosh sakes people were really suggesting tanking the season for the opportunity to draft Bridgewater at #1.

Quote:You know what else is great about johnny Football's Pro day? JFF showed Bridgewater how to handle pressure. What a nice fellow that JFF is. Still, I am more interested in draft Alabama QB A. J. McCarron at some later point in the draft. The really big three of Matthews, Lewan and Robinson are perhaps better than Fisher and Joeckel were last year. (according to whispering on the NFL Network by Charles Davis) Time for Jaguars fans to open their eyes and understand we ain't all Jaguars' fans here.

Either way Draft Manziel at #3 and then AJ later rounds. Quote:So what's the "it" factor in bridgewater in terms of play on the field besides his x's and o's smarts. I do get a nice little chuckle every time I hear/see somebody say that about anybody. You guys really need to stop with the subpar competition nonsense. Bridgewater played against the same level of talent, as he had on his own team. His team wasn't stacked with All-Pros like people try and make out. He played at Louisville... Further more, I'm not going to waste my time going on and on about why I think Bridgewater is a better player. Go read some of the 50+ Bridgewater and Manziel threads. I'm not going to beat this dead horse when it's already been beaten 300 times, over and over.
Quote:Well then... Either way Draft Manziel at #3 and then AJ later rounds.Could we possibly be missing the link? Quarterbacks are the most important players, right? Well, then we should select a quarterback with every draft pick we have! We can have somebody to quarterback the offensive line. We can have somebody to quarterback the secondary. Quarterback the running backs. Quarterback the linebackers. Etc. When we have enough quarterbacks to quarterback the quarterbacks as well, then we succeed! Yet, if we select two quarterbacks this year, which one will be the quarterback and which one will quarterback the quarterback of the quarterbacks, or the mentor of quarterbacks...the quarterback of quarterbacks quarterback? If we revolutionize the entire NFL by drafting just quarterbacks, we'll always have a spare! You never know how well the quarterback of right offensive guard quarterbacks is going to do moving to right quarterback of the offensive tackles quarterback.

Quote:Is/was it as bad as the media and fan hype over Bridgewater just a couple months ago?We did tank for Teddy. Just look how even that turned out!?!?! We can do nothing right. Khan should sell the team back to the NFL and allow them to fold it. Then Khan can give away his zillions to all of us for pain and suffering. He can then hitch-hike to Los Angeles and launch his motion picture mogul career using his trademark mustache as a movie-making logo. I hear the California Raisins are for sale! I read it in the weekly grocery store newspaper and not the grape vine.

Johnny just continued to show he shines in the moment. The bigger the stakes, the bigger the spotlight, the bigger the performance.
He may be considered riskier than the other QBs, but his potential payoff is so much more that it makes it worth the risk. He has been and still is the only QB I would consider at 3, although I believe he will already be off the board. Quote:Is/was it as bad as the media and fan hype over Bridgewater just a couple months ago?IMO a lot of the bridgewater hype was gator fans trying to rationalize the sugar bowl loss. I think in most other areas he wasn't hyped as much as he was here. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:He isn't making it in the 2nd round so that is a pointless thought.they said that about geno smith though, remember when he was consensus top 10 pick by the prognosticators Quote:they said that about geno smith though, remember when he was consensus top 10 pick by the prognosticators Johnny isn't Geno though. His potential is too great for someone to pass up in the 1st round. Quote:Johnny isn't Geno though. His potential is too great for someone to pass up in the 1st round.Well i will disagree with you on that one, i don't think manziel is a legit first round talent. I hope he turns out great because he's a lot of fun to watch but I don't see it. Quote:No, his pro day did not sway my draft choice preferences. Two things did stand out to me.... 1. he's got a better arm than I thought he had, and 2. you can wear camouflage football pants to an NFL interview. Have to agree my doubts about his accuracy were settled He has a good arm and throws a lovely deep ball His deep accuracy is certainly better than teddys Manziels short accuracy was better than I anticipated but teddy puts a little more zip on his short throws so he has the edge there I think any size concerns about teddy have to apply to Manziel maybe it was the angle but Manziel looked tiny out there Teddys mental game is what wins the battle for me and I still have concerns about JFF adapting to the NFL We show less advertisements to registered users. i came away with 3 things. pro days dont normally do much but i took away from it 1. arm is a little bit stronger than i thought. 2. accuracy seemed a lot better than i thought, and the most important was 3. the way he came out and at least seemed like the nfl meant a lot to him, wearing the pads, the helmet. showed a desire to be the best and take things to a whole other level.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."
"Ive never seen a quarterback throw like that in my life."
Guess who this quote is about... Quote:"Ive never seen a quarterback throw like that in my life."jamarcus russell?
