Gus Bradley: The Closer
|
Quote:He was on the all-rookie team his 2010 season, and was solid last year with like you just said a pro bowl year in 2012. 2011 was a rough year, solid years all around from the guy and going to an offensive that fits him better than what he was in...sounds good to me. 6M per for that? Slightly overpaid, but just slightly. He's shown he is one of the better guards in the league, if he isn't top 10 he is close. Going to ZBS where he fits in perfectly? Wouldn't surprise me in the least if he gets into that echelon.exactly. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Just seems like to me the Jags did subtraction+ addition=Nothing..lol

Quote:I dunno if I'd go quite that far....but we haven't really made any "wow" signings, or signings that really change anything in the win column much. I find it odd that anyone expects that ^ to happen after all of the comments Caldwell has made to the contrary. He wants his home runs in the draft. It's the best way to build the team and he's been preaching it like a broken record since his first press conference. I think we'll see some "wow" in the first 3 rounds of the draft.

Great teams are not built with free agents. In fact, it seems like every year someone "wins" free agency and winds up not making the playoffs. We show less advertisements to registered users. Gerhart said he walked away from his meeting with Bradley and was like "Yes I belong here!"
Looks like players love this guy and I do too! Quote:A chippendale to Rosie O :woot: ![]() ![]() We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
From listening to Toby Gerhart's press conference, it is apparent that the word is getting out that Gus Bradley is a coach players want to play for.
I'm failing to see what "wow" FAs we should have signed that would have put us over the top and into the playoffs this season...
The guys getting the big wow contracts are all on the wrong side of 30 and going to contenders that are spending to win now. Denver, Chicago, 9ers, etc. You want your draft picks to turn into "wow" players. You want to use FA to sign cogs to build the team. Adding free agent middle tier guys that are still relatively young and can be veteran leaders if we're "there" in a couple seasons, and cheaper contracts so if they don't work out or fall off a cliff, you can dispose of them and hit the middle market again. Should we have overpaid for an aging vet that won't be any good to us when we are actually ready to contend in the playoffs? No. SMH...
I agree that most of the top tier free agents are too old and too expensive.
I would of liked to see a play at mack but with the tag the jags would have to spend big money to get him. ![]() Quote:I agree that most of the top tier free agents are too old and too expensive.they still could... Quote:Please,so we only have 55M and Oakland has more, lets dont break the bankWe are currently sitting around 48M and have Clemons, Thurmond, Willie Young, Ziggy Hood, Emmanuel Sanders, and Chris Clemons either on their way for a visit, in a visit, or have visited. We are #3/#4 on the list with most cap room, so no, we won't finish FA with the most cap room. |
