Why is Teddy Bridgewater is the most overrated prospect on this message board

Quote:Glad we're focusing on the topic of the thread, guys...Lets be honest if all the stuff he is good at are "teachable" why do you have Tom Brady, Manning, Rodgers, Brees who all all average physical talent at the top? SCARED TO DRAFT QB PEOPLE, OMG NO LUCK, NO DRAFT IM SCARED AHHHHHHHNHHHNNH GET O LINEMEN
Quote:Lets be honest if all the stuff he is good at are "teachable" why do you have Tom Brady, Manning, Rodgers, Brees who all all average physical talent at the top? Yeah, clearly you don't have to have elite physical tools to be an elite, top five player, so I gotta disagree with him there. Those guys you listed are the four best QBs in the league. Teddy has the mental makeup and work ethic to be an elite qb in this league. He has total command of the offense, at just 20-21 years old. Plus, he's got enough athletic ability to make plays inside and outside of the pocket. He's a special talent.
Ok, you all bring up a good point.
Let me clarify: I think it is much tougher for someone with less-than-elite tools to become elite. I think we can all agree that's a pretty fair statement.

Quote:Ok, you all bring up a good point.I'd even debate that considering most of the 10 qbs don't have elite tools. Rodgers arguably with his arm, but everyone else I don't think so. Edit: Cam Newton Quote:Ok, you all bring up a good point. Nah, history tells you differently.
Quote:Nah, history tells you differently.Exactly Montana, Brady, Manning did not have elite physical tool sets All of them had an elite cerebral approach to the game Considering how many busts have came out being over drafted for having "elite physical tool set" I am surprised people still hold unto that philosophy Quote:Ok, you all bring up a good point. Umm I can name 3 Elite QBs that don't have what you call elite tools. Brady, Manning and Brees. Is rather have elite players than elite tools ![]() We show less advertisements to registered users. He's not Luck, Matt Ryan, Matt Stafford etc.

Quote:Exactly Peyton [BLEEP] Manning doesn't have elite physical tools? Did you not see the commercials? 6'4", rocket arm. He's a big, strong man. Hell, even little brother is 6'4". Joe Montana was a tremendous athlete. The least physically gifted QB great right now, Drew Brees, can hit the goal post from 40 yards out. Quote:That's what I'm trying to say. He's not Luck, Matt Ryan, Matt Stafford etc.who isn't Geno? Bridgewater may end up getting a higher grade as a prospect over Ryan (having a stronger arm and can do everything Ryan can do) and Stafford (being just a better qb)
Quote:Peyton [BAD WORD REMOVED] Manning doesn't have elite physical tools? Did you not see the commercials? 6'4", rocket arm. He's a big, strong man.He had a "good" arm coming out of school, no where near a "rocket arm", His scouting report even says that Montana's athleticism is no different than what you see now from the average qbs coming into the league I don't know what you mean by Brees, Every qb can throw 40 yds, a good amount of them could probably hit the goal post
Quote:He had a "good" arm coming out of school, no where near a "rocket arm", His scouting report even says that Brees did a demo where he hits the post something like 80% of the time from that distance, his accuracy is incredible. Again, you people are ridiculous if you think those QBs don't/didn't have elite physical tools. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato
Peyton Manning's scouting report
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/footbal...ers/4.html <strong>He has good arm strength, but not necessarily a “gun” that you might expect from a QB at the top of the draft.</strong> <strong>He has done an excellent job of getting the most out of his abilities, but he is not quite as natural a player as Leaf. One question that some NFL scouts have is the question “will he get any better?”.</strong> <strong>In Manning’s case, he may be a solid and productive NFL QB, but he may not have Hall of Fame type skills, but it certainly won’t be for lack of effort.</strong> Ryan Leaf's http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/footbal...ers/3.html <strong>Leaf appears to be the hot QB in this draft, and he led WSU to a storybook season...He is a physically imposing QB with great size and strength....he is very sturdy and durable in the pocket, and is a surprisingly good athlete for his size...He has a strong arm and shows good touch, and can change up the speed on his passes...He has good feet, but is not really a scrambler. However, he can stand in and take the big hits....He is a very naturally gifted player, but could improve on his throwing mechanics, although it is not a major problem....There are no physical or athletic limitations to hold Leaf back from becoming a great NFL QB. However, there appears to be some minor nagging questions in the area of maturity and his mental approach to the game. He is perceived as not always an easy guy to work with, and he tends to beat to his own drummer...As good as he is, he can have some streaks on the field where he looks like he has forgotten everything he has been taught...There seems to be a nagging question here that something might be missing, but it may be hard to verbalize it...However, Leaf made all the right moves at the end of his season when he declared for the NFL draft...Unless he turns some teams off in individual interviews between now and the draft, he should have no problems....Nobody will question his physical abilities, and it is not outlandish to think that he could be the first pick of the draft, instead of Peyton Manning....There is a huge upside with Leaf, and it is conceivable that he could be one of the best young QB’s in the game in 2-3 years...His ability to play as physical as he does and take the hits that will obviously come, when playing for a team that obviously doesn’t have a very good OL, will help him get over the tough times as a team builds around him.</strong> We show less advertisements to registered users. Quote:Peyton Manning's scouting report Yeah, that last line really makes me put a TON of stock in that report. Manning had the skills then and everyone knew it, he just couldn't win the big games (a trend that continues). That report probably came from the Chargers scout hoping that the Colts would pass on him. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato
Quote:Brees did a demo where he hits the post something like 80% of the time from that distance, his accuracy is incredible.Accuracy is a combination of footwork, proper throwing motion and at times use of the lower body (to enhance velocity) You aren't born accurate, it is something that is refined through 1,000s of hours of practice It is part of being an elite qb By just looking at the film, you would notice that Bridgewater's accuracy (ball placement, velocity control) is astonishingly good That is not even includes him doing a poor job of incorporating his lower body in his throws, it also demonstrates how strong his arm is. With a good qb coach and weight gain he could have a borderline elite arm strength and velocity Quote:That's my point. There is no consensus on TB. Could the same be said for that certain QB in '98? How many of the top quarterbacks now were the consensus top QB of their draft class (five months before the draft)? I don't have the answer. Quote:This article was written April 13, 1998 about a week before the draft. Do you know how Teddy will be viewed a week before the draft? A lot can change -- both in his favor and against it -- between now and May.
