Jonathan Martin, OT, Miami Dolphins

Quote:Being a dirty player is different than being a scummy human being. Incognito is a scummy human being. That was never the argument when it came to Incogntio/Dockett. I have said on here before that Incognito is a giant turd.

Quote:I didnt bring up Dockett or any other player besides Martin into this converstaion, you did.How do you miss things so easily? It is simply amazing. "None of that had no relationship with Docket"? Really? It was an article about Incognito. It had over a paragraph of Dockett saying Incognito was dirty. I simply pointed out that was hilarious for him to be asked about dirty players seeing as how he himself is a very dirty player. Dirty play is subjective, but over the course of 5-6 years Dockett consistently shows up on those lists. Again, I will try. I simply found it hilarious that a reporter asked Dockett if he was a dirty player. Nothing more, nothing less. You go off on these asinine tangents about it and then keep riding that pointless train. Good gracious.

I don't have the facts in front of me like you must have, but I'd say Martin figured he'd have anything but a good time with Incognito and his posse and would probably be pressured to put up even more $ once they got going in Vegas... IMO he finally grew a pair and decided enough was enough...I think you're right. Could have handled it a little better I think, but I think you hit on it. I'd a liked to see him bring this issue to the coaches, ownership, team management etc., rather then just up and leave his team though.

I already pointed out you having a tendency to manipulate conversations to avoid discussing all parameters of the topic at hand. Hence you keep riding bringing up Dockett when it is almost completely irrelevant or egregious. Face it, up to this point you are not willing to discuss the racial and or bullying aspect of the Incognito-Martin issue deeper than what you have already given in this thread. You had a problem with it in the RGIII Cornball thread from last year. Admit it and lets move on, you bringing up Dockett is getting old.
Whether someone has a liberal, or conservative viewpoint, a authoritative figure should not lock a thread for the sole purpose to get the last word in all the while prohibiting someone else from being able to respond.

I have said on here before that Incognito is a giant turd. You implied it in your wording. You brought him up as someone who is truly "confused" in response to a post saying that the Dolphins locker room is confused about the Martin/Incognito situation. That's an implication that extends beyond the football field.
I've said things to my friends that many here (and elsewhere) would consider offensive or "hateful". They've said those things to me, too. No one cares because we're all friends.
What are we talking about here? Bullies? Racism? Both? Are we talking about it because Incognito is white and Martin is black? Are we to assume that it would, otherwise, be OK to say had Incognito been black? Or, is this an issue that the NFL should address despite the colors of their skin? Ultimately, if the Dolphins' locker room promotes this atmosphere and Incognito took advantage of it and utilized it as many others have, then how can we single-out Incognito for something that his teammates have deemed acceptable? People have already come out and said that both sides of the Dolphins' locker room participated in behavior such as this. How do you know that Martin didn't also send messages similar to Incognito's? There are too many questions, and it's easy to make the assumption that Incognito is a blatant racist. If you believe that Incognito would genuinely treat his teammates poorly or that he's a racist, then there's no way that he would become one of the team's leaders. I support the NFL's right to ban Incognito or the Dolphins' right to cut him since its detrimental to their image. As for bullying, I don't care about that. The world isn't fair, and Martin doesn't have to play Incognito's games. These aren't children in middle school with no other option or recourse. Quote:Im not missing anything. I already pointed out you having a tendency to manipulate conversations to avoid discussing all parameters of the topic at hand. Hence you keep riding bringing up Dockett when it is almost completely irrelevant or egregious.I brought the Dockett thing up....Once. You are the one who responded to it and made a mountain out of a mole hill on something I got a chuckle from. The comment is akin to one prostitute telling another prostitute that she's a dirty sloot, and I find that hilarious. The Dockett issue (question and comment) was never a racial thing, it was something I found hilarious because he is commenting on someone who is a dirty player. It's funny, other people get it, other people always get it, except you. Proof in the pudding here, again. I have already said, in this thread, that Incognito is a turd of a human being. He has been for a long time now. I already said the racist comments were unnecessary. What more do you want?

Quote:Yup, and like I said earlier, the dynamics in a locker room are like none other This is the focal point of all of this I think. Yes, locker rooms are different places but do they need to be? Should they be allowed to remain "different"? The dynamics of a sports team always seem to be a "boys club" type of thing, but I'm starting to think that it's better off if it isn't that way. Yes, players are a different breed, but they're still societal members. They still need to be held to the same standards as everyone else. Why should a person be subjected to public humiliation just because he's an athlete? Does it really do the team dynamic any good? If anything comes out of this catastrophe, I hope it's that the League starts to realize that a workplace is a workplace regardless if it's a locker room, a meeting room, an office space, whatever. All I know is that if anyone left me a voicemail talking about how he's going to #### in my mouth while my Mom watched, there would be repercussions about that. That kind of thing has no place while I'm at work.
I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.
Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say! Quote:I've said things to my friends that many here (and elsewhere) would consider offensive or "hateful". They've said those things to me, too. No one cares because we're all friends. Only if it ended with an "a". Joking aside, it should be handled regardless of race, as should anything. That doesn't mean it will, but it should.
ESPN's Jason Whitlock has an interesting take on the story. I'm not sure why he keeps on bringing up Pouncey, but his perspective is worth considering.

An article by a former player in a similar situation. I agree with your last two sentences whole heartedly. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/18409...&hpt=hp_c2 The locker room will always be different, but there is definitely a line. What Incognito did was cross it.

And you're right, Incognito crossed a line; someone within the organization needs to make sure that line is clearly defined and inviolate.

I hate whenever I writer dismisses something because it doens't fit the narrative they are trying to establish. He excludes Tannehill's support of Incognito as him only sticking up for him because of his value on the football field. We still don't know a heck of a lot about the situation in the lockerroom and everyone seems to be acting as if all the facts have come out. I think we're going to see a lot of info that paints that whole lockerroom, including Jonathan Martin, in a bad light. |
