If the Draft were today who would we pick?

Quote:Allen could take Odrick's spot.
I was thinking the same. Could Odrick move inside? Or Allen for that matter?

This is where GM and HC have to be on the same page. Don't want another Myles Jack case of "drafted a stud LB with HC saying yes you did but I don't have a place to play him"

Quote:The thing with Allen is where does he play? malik is manning the inside and hes not an edge guy imo. He seems limited to being a 3-4 dl. Kinda the same as Buckner last year, except Allens way better. I just still cant help but think well be limiting him

Allen can play 5 tech, 3 tech or 1 tech all really well. Finding a spot for him won't be hard regardless of what scheme we have next year.

As long as we get a coach who knows how to actually use the talent, our defense will be very good next year.

Jack for a whole season. Along with 2nd year Yannick, Ramsey, Fowler. Add in Garrett or Allen. A lot of young talent to use.

It's probably very unlikely we keep the same base defense next year with Gus gone.  Have Allen and Malik in the middle, then Yannick and Fowler on the outside, with a ton of depth for rotation.

Allen or Garrett would be great. Also, Malik McDowell from MSU was a beast prior to his injury. He's another possibility- Malik and Malik in the middle with Yannick and Fowler at defensive ends. Not too shabby.

I love McDowell. Was on par with Allen to me.

I would take Allen. Fowler, Allen, Jackson, Yannick DL looks solid with our secondary.

Yeah, McDowell would be good too.  Both guys are vicious with their hands.

Quote:College measurements aren't worth a damn. You find out their real size at the combine and I guarantee Peppers is 5'11''. If he put on another 10 pounds he would be too slow, which is why he isn't at that weight right now.

It seems we agree on Peppers though so I'm not sure what we're arguing about.

Quote:the prototypical quarterback is 6'4''-6'5'' and 230lbs+ and most of them aren't that big either.

But anyone that isn't 6'4"-6'5" and 230+ isn't "too small to be a QB".

Vino, you are clearly underrating how fast Peppers truly is. What do you think his 40 time at the combine will be if he weighs in at 210? 215? 220?

The dude has ELITE speed. He could lose a step with 5-10 extra pounds and still have above average speed. The kid broke the New Jersey High School track record in the 200 yard dash with a time of 20.79 for goodness sake. His coverage skills will be what could hinder him in the secondary, not his speed. You saying that his speed is or will be an issue makes it quite evident that you aren't that familiar with Peppers.

Idk why this won't imbed but watch this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vllcQZgJPXE

Peppers' speed isn't really an issue. The rest of his game, however...

I want to watch more of him because I thought he was pretty awful in the OSU game outside of his easy INT. Personally, unless he's damn near Kucehly-level as a tackler, I wouldn't look his way if I was planning on making him a LB.

We aren't picking Peppers. He just won't meet a need.

We need a Running Back and offensive linemen.

We had our sexy draft in 2016. This time we will have a big ugly draft. It's time.

He was really bad against OSU. If we were dead set on going SS Adams looks significantly better.

Can't force the picks though. There is no Ezekiel Elliot or Joe Thomas in this draft. The closest things to Zeke have major injury concerns too.

Take the pass rusher with the elite pick and still be able to get a good RB and oline on day 2.

Foreman is like Ezekiel Elliott and the closer we get to the draft, people will begin to realize that.

No, the rest of his game isn't "an issue". Peppers isn't good just because he is fast. His coverage skills are an issue, but saying "the rest of his game is an issue" is silly.
