Chris Simms says to end Bortles experiment
|
If we step back and take a good honest approach to this topic....Simms is spot on.
With only 3 first quarter touchdowns in his career... His mechanics will never be straightened out because that's just who he is. When the 2 minute warning came vs the Packers and Bortles had no clue. I started thinking who is this guy.. This is a topic we all want to put behind us and say "No!, I'm not chasing another QB down for this team"... I'll be honest, I'm in denial. I think Bortles is holding this team back right now. He's threw 6 int's in 3 games. Lol at myself for saying he would be better than Brunell. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:And when people make you look silly with evidence do you always resort to ad hominems? The only one who looks silly here is you and your weird man crush. I quit looking at your evidence a few years ago. Quote:Only silly people were calling him a top 10 QB coming into this year. I don't think anyone thought he would be a lock in the top 10 this year I meant in the long run. Until Gus is gone and we have a running game that goes for then 60 to 70 total yards a game then we have to give it more time. I wanna see what Bortles cam do when he doesn't feel like he has to win us the game by himself and doesn't have to press. Quote:Upside isn't Bortles-like, but he has a higher floor.I don't even know what kind of upside Blake has. Like I got that argument with someone like Stafford or Cutler, their arm strength and overall talent would lead you to think that if they could avoid the back breaking plays they could conceivably become elite. I don't see any way to make that kind of point for Bortles. If he can find a way to avoid the back breaking plays, he still has a very long motion, spotty accuracy to put it nicely, and balls that wobble like Peyton's minus the rest of that package, etc... He's definitely holding this offense back, he misses WR's way to often, not only because of accuracy/ball placement but he literally misses reads way too much for a 3rd year QB. People are harping on the lack of a run game but that has nothing to do with flat-out missing WR's, that on Bortles and he'd be the first to tell you that. The all-22 shows our WR's & TE's creating separation on a consistent basis, but yet we've struggled to move the ball through the air this year, that has nothing to do with the run game and everything to with Blake just playing at an unacceptable level right now. He's just not very good at the moment, and it stems from foundational issues that are tough to fix.

Spotty? Papke throws a more accurate ball right now than Bortles.

I agree, 100%, my comment was assuming he alters that motion, which is nearly impossible to do at this level. Quote:The only one who looks silly here is you and your weird man crush. I quit looking at your evidence a few years ago.Seriously, go back in my post history and look up the last time I brought up Teddy. It hasn't happened since we passed on him in the draft 2.5 years ago. Everyone else has some weird fetish with Teddy and inserting him into every QB conversation, not me. I have been perfectly content to not bring him up a single time as soon as he became something other than a Jaguar. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

I was blinded by 35 TDs and 4400 yards last year. And his throwing motion is just wow. Give a 1st for Jimmy G. Quote:I was in denial about Blake. He's just not that good. The team that bites on Jimmy G are going to get the same as the Texans and Chiefs got with Mallet and Cassel. I mean a 3rd string QB looked serviceable in there system. My brother is broncos fan and trust me McDaniels is like a moody teenager and would set us back to 4 years ago. |
