Am I the only person who watched Trevor play against an SEC defense and struggle throwing the ball?

Blaine 2.0

Besides which, I want to see what Minshew can do as a full-time starter.

Minshew deserves this whole year as a starter at least.

And?

My questions was if this is the least talented roster in the league. Maybe the Jets are worse but that may be it.

We're not even the least talented roster in the state of Florida.

I'm good with this move.

Bouye was clearly in decline the past two seasons, overpaid, and not long for this roster anyway. Got a pick for him instead of another year of middling play. Yeah - it's another hole to fill but we've got the capital and there are some strong CBs in this draft class.

Miami traded away all their good players in a clear rebuild. The Jags are in “win now” mode but you’re right, the Dolphins have a worse roster. However, I would trade places with them and their situation. At least they were up front that they were in a rebuild.

Welp. Looks like another rebuild. Yay.

"rebuild"

"win-now"

Fans love to force labels on offseasons. (I know I'm guilty too - I'm not harshing anyone here)
I just don't think either label fits all that well. The HC and GM have their backs against the wall - so in that respect they are in win now mode. But they need help at 7 positions to really be competitive and that's unrealistic in one offseason. It also seems to fall somewhere well short of "rebuild" IMO.

It's just a dysfunctional organization with a likely lame duck staff trying to find their way through a crap situation with players jumping ship.
What's the label for that? LOL

Bouye was still very good two years ago, it was only last year that his play fell off. Hard to say if he is actually in decline or if the weight of the horrible season just got to him. Either way getting a 4th for him was good, there is no way he was going to be on our next winning team.

Now we should keep selling (there are Calais, Linder, Norwell rumors out there) and go full on Lose4Lawrence and Fail4Fields. Sell off 9 and 20 in this draft for 2021 picks.

My sentiments exactly.

Caldwell pulled some strings knowing that we, he was going to release Bouye regardless. Yayyyyy. We have an additional fourth round 2020 draft for a player that was undrafted to which hasn't played up to his contract other than his first year w/us.

What A Shocker...

Call me crazy ... but I'm completely happy with this trade.

While we were trying to "win now" we spent like crazy, paid some guys a ton of cash to suit up in teal and then .... Blake Bortles couldn't throw spirals, and then later Nick Foles got blown up at the same time we learned our defensive interior was totally rotten. Many new and young players needed here in Duval. Out with these old and expensive vets, in with the young and hungry.

We would have released A.J. anyway. Now we have another pick. Good play by the F.O.
You're Welcome.

That's one way to improve our numbers against the run.

Lmbo. Now I see it. Rather than improve our weakest areas, we just damage other areas to where our weaknesses are no longer targeted. I can’t believe I didn’t notice this before. It all makes since now.

This trade made a lot of sense and now we will have even more draft capital in a loaded draft. I am not one bit upset about it.

This is it tho. What are guys like Chark and Allen thinking when the better players are desperate to get out? Were not adding pieces for another run, were rebuilding huge chunks yet again.

Im just staggered at how quickly we have destroyed such a young and talented D.

As for your closing statements,  I agree with you.  I believe Caldwell is a good drafter.  But player retention is a disaster.

This is the lowest point I think I have ever felt about the organization
I totally agree.  Every week, at every turn, it is another kick in the gut.
I’ve heard Boselli mock the fanbase a few weeks ago, basically saying “what are we complaining about, you fans only go to 6 games at most anyway...”
I’ve heard Shad say we can’t be burdened with 7 games.
I’ve heard Sexton say “the NFL made a mistake....( and yes I know the context)”.
I know the various tv and media deals pay for all of the player and coaches salaries, so this off the field competitiveness is all about more money.  Meanwhile before he claims we are in the poor house, the franchise has gone from a $750 mill value to over $2 billion.
I don’t trust the franchise now.  I feel like I’m being lied to, and every step of the a way they’ve insulted us with the garbage we are expected to just swallow with no complaint.
Being a fan should have enjoyment to it.   Right now it is the opposite of that. It is a miserable experience in a daily basis.
I have no desire to listen to the radio, podcasts, or otherwise. It’s been beaten out of me.
I missed those quotes.

Those are ugly.

Placed within the larger context of one winning season within the last twelve years, it's even uglier.

That's the point I made last week.

I could see losing guys like Dareus, Campbell, Church.  They are older and expensive vets.

But no team could sensibly have a draft like 2016 and only keep that nucleus together for three years.

At this point, it's hard tobe enthusiastic about the possibilities the upcoming draft could bring, because even if we have a '74 Steelers type of draft, they'll all be gone by the end of their first contracts anyway.

Enjoy Josh Allen while you can.  By 2022, we'll be speculating on how much we can get in exchange for him and from whom, even if he remains insanely productive and healthy.  Chark will be gone too.

Welcome to the train of misery. Fluke play off appearances once a decade and dumping players after one contract. Resigning the wrong players early and selling fans on the future.

I have to admit that I was wrong last year when I posted that this team was unlikable. Turns out my feelings were misplaced with the players and really it is a franchise problem. I wasn't prepared for the rinse and repeat of failure at the draft and develope phase of operations.

It is hard to be excited about Minshew's potential because this team is going to destroy it.

Fans deserve better. Thanks for all the good times too many are in the past.

This is sad.

We aren't a fanbase of maltontents, nattering nabobs of negativism, bibbers or self soilers.

This franchise has earned the distrust we currently see from the fans.

Look at the posts we see on this board.

People who have been posting here for years, who have faithfully supported this team, are now devoid of hope and trust in this organization.

Some of the same people who espoused "In Gene we Trust" have reached the breaking point.  I have been one of the few voices preaching patience in the face of repeated losing seasons.  It's very hard to do so now.
