Id rather have Tyrod starting than Watson. Think the 5 man front can do a good job containing him from making plays with his legs.
Are they serious about Wingard starting? Guys got plenty of heart and effort but hes not starter quality.

I think Meyer is just playing the same games as he did with Lawrence. If he doesn't then the explanation is this: Wingard > Cisco. At this time. I know Wingard is disliked by most here but if he's starting it's because he's better than Cisco. There's no way internet posters can judge this better than a coach like Meyer. No way. I'm sorry if slowflakes don't like that but it's the truth. Some people here think way too highly of themselves.
i can't see anything on Tape that says WIngard is better than Cisco, i do know Wingard is a lunchpail kinda guy, a urban kinda guy. so maybe he has gotten better this offseason more than we have seen in the last two years. we have seen some postive plays from him but mostly negative over the positive.
i look at the Defense in the back with Jenkins/ Cisco Henderson and Griffin Allen, Jack, WIlson and Chassion what isn't to like about that. He started off by trading away a young TE for peanuts, needlessly brought a coach with major red flags, drafted a RB in the first round, syphoned off starting reps from Trevor, etc. (09-07-2021, 04:52 PM)CanDoBetter Wrote: https://twitter.com/Demetrius82/status/1...7667346434I love when people make the blanket statement like you made. There are NUMEROUS examples of people on this board being right and that’s not just 20/20 hindsight. Starting Wingard is the wrong move. Period. We have seen him get torched not just in pass coverage but in the run game too. He should be the last safety to play on this team. (09-07-2021, 03:13 PM)Cleatwood Wrote: Dude. What’s the deal with Wingard? Why In the world is he starting? Just more signs of Urbs not having a [BLEEP] clue about what he is doing as he continues to think he's the smartest man in the room. It's the same dumb crap he did with the QBs. The same dumb crap as the -OR- between Robinson and Hyde. etc etc They better keep him in the box the whole game because he has no business trying to play deep, or cover anybody. This isn't College where he could get by on having the best talent on the field every game. He hasn't done jack [BLEEP] in the NFL to prove to anybody that we should just take whatever he does as greatness, or anything even close to it. Hopefully Meyer proves you are wrong, like he has at every step of the road until this point. That’s what Jaguars fans want and deserve. Time will tell.

Also, us winning is going to have a lot more to do with Trevor Lawrence than it ever will Meyer.

He could recruit mostly anyone he wanted so he got the best ones available. You see, it's not like he recruited scrubs because he knew who the best ones were. Why do you think he wouldn't be able to identify talent at the NFL level? Anyway, it's funny how this triggers people. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

It's true with coaches at the collegiate level. You do know they're watching at every single practice, right? People here are basing their ideas of players on what reporters write. Reporters are at the same practices but don't see nearly as much as the coaches. Unlike reporters the coaches also know the players' assignments so know who did what they're supposed to or not.

To assume success at the college level automatically translates into success at the NFL level is no more realistic for a HC/GM, than it is for a QB (enough said on that subject without mentioning any names).(09-07-2021, 08:09 PM)Eric1 Wrote: Exactly what has Meyer done to prove that he can even judge NFL talent at all? Personnel decisions go beyond "talent" and there are multiple facets to consider, many of which are not supported by measurable statistics. Justin Blackmon and Jalen Ramsey both had great "talent''. We all hope Meyer turns out to be great, but some of us aren't jumping on the bandwagon just yet.
When you get into the endzone, act like you've been there before.
