Cam Robinson only allowed 1 sack all year. The Guy is a beast!

Spoiler alert: Chandler isn't going to spend the last years of his career playing for the back to back worst team in the league when he can get just as good of a contract to play for a contender. If they give Chandler a huge contract, they won’t be able to sign other quality players to help fill those holes. A better team with money (which there are a lot of) could give him a ton of money as well and make him their top priority. The Jags theoretically could sign Jones but I wouldn’t expect it. This year is an anomaly because the cap didn't go up during the covid season, so the cap went up by basically two cycles this time. Now almost every team has more than enough cap space to sign Jones, and what contender isn't going to want a stud pass rusher?

I remember that mini documentary well. The Broncos almost got him because he wanted to play for a contender (and his home town) even though we were offering a lot more money. This time we will not be the only team offering the elite FA big money since everyone has big money.

Also 60 mil is big money but 54.5 mil isn't? Lmao First, it mentioned Washington but they bowed out at 12M AAV. It was also only 54 from Denver if he hit his incentives. It was 12 mil less otherwise, with a much smaller guarantee. Plus the state tax difference. Are you comfortable guaranteeing someone $3M+ per year if there is a multi team bidding war, which there will be for almost everyone this FA period? If multiple teams are offering something in the range of Frank Clarks 21M AAV for Chandler Jones are you offering 24 or 25M per?

What exactly does a team with more holes than Swiss cheese signing a 31 year old LB have to do with Cam Robinson?

There aren't a lot of great options at LT. The best options are that you can tag CR, sign Terron Armstead, or draft someone with the first pick. The other options are to go with WL or sign one of a few guys past their prime- Solder, Reiff, Fisher. My choice would be sign TA but that's going to take up a good bit of cap space and there are a lot of holes in this team because of the horrid off-season last year. Wasn't impressed at all when I got to watch WL play. Granted, he wasn't where I could see him all the time when he played but I never saw him dominate his guy. The old Jags would have just rolled the dice on WL and move on but hearing the coach say that he believed that the game was won in the trenches gave me hope that THIS year they will finally fix what they should have been working on the last 3 years. Fingers crossed...

We need to work on the defensive trenches and add skill players for Lawrence to throw to.

I am sure you will be happy to correct me if I am wrong, but other than WL there is no one that has started a game at or even played significant time at LT, for anyone, on the roster. The approach the Jags will want to take, who knows what they will do. With a name like "TheO-LineMatters" I would certainly think that you would want what has been one of the weakest links of this team for years fixed, the Oline... |
