In your opinion the #1 need on the team?

We Needs to Better O-Line.
1)RT - another bad game 2) LG - been a weakness all year 3)CB2 - need a cover corner, Shaq just not good enough when in We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
WR Ridley is nice but who knows how the 2 years off will effect him. Kirk has as many TDs as the rest of the team combined.

My stance as well. We invested plenty on the defense. Need to give the offense a facelift in the off season. Ridley was an early start but you still have to keep stacking around that. He's not a guarantee. Our goal was to get better against the run to win this division. They kind of did that. Your goal is to win your division. You win that and you're guaranteed a spot in the play-off's. They now need to get better around Lawrence. It's obvious now that Lawrence can bounce back mentally, make the tough throws, make the plays with his feet, keep you in the games or even take the lead. The defense has been crippling this team off and on all year. It's been a bit of give and take but I think if you get Lawrence a 50/50 receiver that's 6'4+ on the outside to go along with Ridley, Kirk and Jones? We MIGHT have next years Dolphins style offense going for us. MIGHT. We won't know though unless they go and GET those receivers. I think the offensive line has a position or two that needs to be addressed BUT.... they need to figure out what the hell they have in Walker Little. If he's playing RT next year with Taylor hitting the market. Fine. If he's playing LG, great. At any rate. I think they're going to need at least ONE solid starting LG or T and another late round pick that's probably REALLY GOOD at one thing and needs some work in the other so they start grooming him to replace Scherff. My biggest concern though is the TE group. I cannot stress and state this enough. We will not have ANY of them back next year as it stands. They need to figure out and determine if Engram, Arnold and Manhertz are worth working into the offense more to justify potentially over paying one of them or two of them next year to stay around. Still have to draft some potential players there for the receiving game. Again, there's some behemoths at the WR and TE position next year. Just giant targets. Johnston, Demus & Perry are pretty big for receivers. Washington, Kuntz and Kincaid are giants for tight ends. Not going up to get one of these guys or landing at least two, three of these guys would be a disservice to Lawrence. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? Yeah, I'd love to say we need to pay Josh Allen... but the dude rushes the QB the same way as Trayvon but with less of a motor. Allen makes great depth, but he's not a game changer. Our D line just doesn't make QBs uncomfortable.
I actually like our secondary. I don't think we should spend a 1st on a CB or FS. Our linebackers are also serviceable. We need a Scobee/Lambo kicker. It would also be nice to get a big bodied WR or TE like Deebo. But at the end of the day, we are inept at getting pressure on the QB. Maybe it's our DC that can't scheme right. I mean, it appears that we have the physical talent to rush the QB. But for whatever reason, Allen and Walker on the edges just get wiped out. It's really crazy to watch happen. Both our DEs just bull rush for 2 seconds and then just kinda flop or stall out near the back end of the QB as he steps up. There is no variation to what out edge rush does. It is kind of ironic how the Allen situation is so similar to the Ngakoue situation. Has some skills as a pass rusher but struggles against the run and can't beat a tackle with power moves. I agree I'd like to keep him but you wouldn't pay more than $6m-$7m a year which I'm not sure he'd accept.
As far as Allen goes, you try and see if he'll sign a team friendly deal. If not, you let him play out his 5th year option next year and go from there.

He was a monster and teams were terrified of him. He opened up stuff for everybody else. And Walker isn't Yannick when it comes to rushing off the other side. I think Walker will be a very good player when it's said and done, but he isn't anywhere close to a finished product. Needs to develop some other rush moves besides the bull rush. With little to no drop off up front. It's been nonexistent. They went out and drafted Chaisson. Bust. They went out and signed Key, Fatukasi and drafted Walker. They spent a [BLEEP] ton of money to improve the defensive personnel around him and he's still a non factor. This has been one of the worst pass rushing defenses I can remember in franchise history. Not as bad as the 2009 squad. But, it's anemic to put it lightly. Especially for a team in 2022 that has all of these supposed great athletes on it. At some point you have to look at the player for what he is. Going to be a real pisser next year when they draft Jalen Carter and Travon Walker flashes more than a 5th year player not making any impact and we passed up on a receiver like Quentin Johnston to essentially have another wash on defense in the pass rushing department. Biggest need is playmaker. How many guys do we have that are top 5 at their position? Do we have any? We need more all-pro players regardless of position. We have a roster filled with above average role players with just a handful of guys we think could develop into stars (Lawrence, Etienne, Campbell, Lloyd, maybe Walker, ??)
I know the point of the thread is positional. I'm still on the Lawrence bandwagon (it is funny seeing the pendulum swing on this board each week based on how he plays) so I won't pick QB. But if I had to pick a position to get a playmaker I'd rank them 1) pass rusher 2) pass rusher 3) TE 4) OT 5) pass rusher I think a legit top 5 TE would put this offense over the top and would clean up most of our red zone struggles. Probably could use one great offensive lineman and then shuffle the existing deck and we'd be in a good spot. But pass rush is far and away the biggest hole. Give me one outsude and one interior lineman the offenses had to fear and this defense could be dominant. Yes the secondary could use an upgrade but fixing defensive line would do as much for the DBs as anything. Have we spent a bunch of money on defense? Yes. Has it worked. Not really. Doesn't mean you stop trying to upgrade. Maybe you just have the wrong person in charge of doing so. ________________________________________________ Scouting well is all that matters. Because we lost Campbell and Ngakoue he's basically been completely washed out as an effective pass rusher. And all that money they spent isn't doing much of anything. Allen can't do it all by himself, he needs help. If you expect him to be Garrett, Parsons, Bosas etc, then that's on you for assuming that. He isn't those guys and he wont ever be. Still doesn't mean he's not a good player. Key is underwhelming at best, Foley is a run stopper and Walker is raw. Looks more like they spent a bunch of money on guys who aren't really any good. |
